I Can See Clearly

The other day I wrote about my trip to the emergency room Sunday for an eyelash in my left eye. It had somehow got embedded under a filmy layer of fluid. But I can see clearly now. This is my blog from the other day http://themarthareview.com/sharing-my-two-cents/

The emergency doctor set up an early Monday morning appointment with the eye doctor to “operate” on my eye to remove the eyelash. Hubby and I got to the office right at 8:00 AM and since they were squeezing me in I thought I might have a long wait since the waiting room was full within 15 minutes.

The nurse called me to the exam room about 20 minutes later and preceded to do a full eye exam. When the doctor came in, I showed him the picture of my eye that I had taken Sunday morning. After a few numbing drops, he checked my eye and then reached for a tweezer like instrument.

I get nervous when it comes to poking around my eyes, sight is one of the most important things to have. Since my eye was numb I didn’t feel any pain but I could feel pressure as he poked through the film and carefully pulled the eyelash out!

By now my eye was quite sore, my eyeball was thumping every beat of my pulse and when I blinked it felt like sandpaper. But at least I can see!

A few more drops were put in my eye and he gave me a prescription for some eye drops. But he also gave me a complimentary bottle and told me if the pain and redness went down I didn’t need to fill the prescription. After checking the price and finding out the bottle would cost over $300.00 I decided the pain would be gone when the complimentary bottle was empty.

This was done on Monday and while it’s still I bit bloodshot, the pain is just about gone except in the outside corner.

When I went to the ER, it was the first time I had used the facility since it was built a few years ago and I was very impressed with everyone. The nurse took me back immediately, the doctor came in within 10 minutes and I was in and out within an hour. Same with the eye doctor, I had never been to this office but he was so accommodating to get me in so quickly and I was in and out of his office in just over an hour.

So my eye is better, I have no idea how the eyelash got under the layer, but I’m happy it’s out and I can see clearly again!!

  1. I am so glad it went well and the eyelash is gone!! May the pain disappear quickly and easily.

I wonder if your eye would have “rejected” the eyelash after a few days had you not gone to E.R.? Best that you got it out though. Also good you didn’t have to get that $$ prescription for eye drops! Ouch!

The eye was so painful I don’t think I could make it a few more days Wendy. The ER doc was worried it might move under my pupil so that’s why he had me go get it removed. It’s scary when it comes to eyes. I need them to see my great grandbabies 🤗

  3. Wow, Martha! What an experience. And I’m rejoicing with you that it’s all turned out OK. It feels so wonderful when everything goes well, doesn’t it? It was so kind of the doctor to give you that complimentary bottle so you didn’t have to buy your own. (You made me chuckle at the point that you were sure your eye would be fine by the time the bottle was done. I’d have been the same!)

When it comes to eyes, hubby said we can’t take a chance. I don’t know what eye meds have to be so costly, they were that why when I had my cararact surgery also. I’m glad it got better before I needed that second bottle. Thanks for atoopr by, glad you got a chuckle 😄

  4. At least it wasn’t eye surgery!

I’ve had cataract and laser surgery in both eyes and not a fan of messing with the eyes. I need them to see my great grand babies. Thanks for stopping by to eye my blog Roy
