My Humorous Ending To An Educational Experience
My Humorous Ending To An Educational Experience
The other day, I wrote a blog about Never Too Old To Learn, sharing my experience about going back to school at 60, yes 60 years old. I decided to share a bit of humor to the ending of my story!
As I mentioned, the test administrator called me up to the counter, handed me my certificate and said, “Congratulations on passing your exam with a score of 92.” I walked out with my certificate in hand, crying because I was so excited that I passed and also that I was actually still able to learn. My hubby who was patiently waiting in for me in the truck the entire time of the exam, reading a fishing and hunting magazine, or maybe a few magazines since it took a few hours for me to complete the exam. When he saw me heading to the truck crying, his first thought was I may have failed and I was upset.
Hurriedly he opened the truck door and was attempting to rush to console me. Well, while he was rushing, he forgot his seat belt was on so as he stepped out, the seat belt nearly strangled him. There he was, partly dangling off the running board with the seat belt still on. So now, I’m rushing to him so I can make sure he’s okay! I got him unbuckled and told him I was crying tears of joy and excitement that I passed the exam! At that point I thought of what my grandmother would always tell me. She said our tear ducts are too close to our heart because my family seems to cry over everything, happy or sad! This incident wasn’t funny at the time, but looking back now, I wish I had told hubby to hold on so I could get a photo! Can you imagine Rich hanging by his seat belt and his feet could not touch the ground? So glad everything turned out great with the seat belt incident and Rich was so very proud of me on passing the exam.
oh no, poor pop! :/ he was so worried about rushing to help you, he forgot to unbuckle lol. probably did look a little funny tho, lol
LOL Not funny at the time, but was when I was writing this!! 🙂
That was a funny postscript and happy to see you have such a devoted hubby. Mine has waited for me in cars – bless his patience with me!
Thanks Alana, I really wish I had photos to add! Hubby and I have been together 50 years and he is always patient, not sure what he’s saying under his breath though! LOL Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend.
Funny! At 60+ I am still learning too!
Bill, I think we can learn at any age and I love adding a bit of humor to by life stories. Thanks for visiting!
That is hilarious!
I would have cried, too.
I am a total mush. I cry when I’m sad, I cry at romantic stories, I cry at joyful stories, and I laugh so hard that I cry.
OMG Alice, I am the same way. I can watch a movie that I’ve seen over and over, know the ending and still need a full box of tissues! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for the smile — at 60 you are still young — I started my career at 68
Well I’m 67 now Carol, but there is no age limit we can put on learning! I didn’t even start using a computer until I was well in my 50’s! My granddaughter knew more about them in kindergarten than I did! Glad I could give you a smile, have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for visiting!
Amen Sister! I hear you loud and clear and so glad we connected! I didn’t know anything about computers as well. I think I was in my 60s. We’re pretty amazing aren’t we girl?
That would have ben an awesome picture to share, but you have it already for the rest of your life, in your head. Congrats on passing the exam also 🙂
Of course when it happened, it wasn’t funny but as soon as I ‘rescued’ hubby, we had a good laugh. He is the sweetest and most patient hubby. Thanks and have a great weekend.
I am happy you passed your exams.
Thanks Sandy, this was 7 years ago but seems like it was yesterday. Thanks for visiting.
Thanks Sandy, just goes to prove an old coot can still learn! I enjoyed the course and actually learned more than I set out to do. Thanks for visiting, have a wonderful Sunday.
