Homemade French Fries
I don’t eat many potatoes but occasionally I like a good french fry. Today I’m going to show you my latest and greatest meal…. homemade french fries!
A few years back I got Alexandra a Mandoline food slicer for onions. At the time I didn’t realize it also had a setting for making french fries, it took me 3 years to figure that out while dialing the width to cut onions.
They are so easy to make, wash the potatoes and leave the skin on. Then I sliced them into skinny strips and soaked for about 15 minutes in cold water. I drained them on paper towels and when to canola oil was hot I carefully dropped the potato strips in to fry. They fried up quick and when they were slightly brown I scooped them out and let drain on paper towels.
Meanwhile while I was starting the french fries, Rich found a recipe he wanted to try to BBQ chicken. We only had frozen chicken breast stripes but they works. He mixed BBQ sauce with Italian dressing and mixed that with the chicken for about 15 minutes before putting them on the grill.
Our homemade fries and BBQ chicken dinner was delicious and so easy!
Since I had the oil left over, the next day I made fries again! I know, we shouldn’t eat too much fried food but this was the exception, it was too good not to have again. For this meal I boiled up some shrimp and put on ice while I sauteed some sea scallops. Since I had the pan with the scallops I tossed in a few shrimp to saute up too. It was another quick and delicious meal. My homemade french fries were a big hit.
