Halfway Through The Challenge
Halfway Through The Challenge
This past January I stumbled across a post about a blog challenge. My blog was only about a year old and up to that time, I had just been posting mostly about product reviews and trying to learn new things on my blog. The Ultimate Blog Challenge is done every quarter: January, April, July, and October. So since I’m always up to a challenge, I accepted. Was I glad I did! Not only did my stats and comments increase, but more so I met some wonderful new blogger friends. Everyone has their own “niche” and it’s so interesting to read others stories. I participating and completed the January and April Challenge and working diligently to complete July. I have had a lot going on this month and sometimes I don’t get my blog up until late in the afternoon, but so far so good.
Half way through this month’s challenge, I have increased by views by 946 and my comments have jumped and additional 131.
As I mentioned, when I started blogging, it was mainly for product reviews but then I expanded into other categories. I like share helfpul money saving tips, couponing, and helpful how-do’s, plus a variety of others. The latest category I added was “Guest Posts” for anyone who wants to share something, they can send me their post and I’ll add it as a guest.
I was checking back through my stats for July and my the top post was SOON TO BE MR AND MRS. My oldest grandson is getting married in August and I’m so excited to be having a wonderful, beautiful, lovely granddaughter-in-law!
The 2nd highest post was TACHYCARDIA which is the beginning of my 20 year old granddaughter’s story about her lung tumor. I’ve always heard that RAINBOWS are a sign of hope and when on the way home from Ohio after meeting Alexandra’s surgeon, there was the most beautiful rainbow that appeared out of nowhere. This was my 3rd top post and it meant so much to me when I saw how this rainbow appeared.
So now on to the last half of the July Ultimate Blog Challenge where I continue to meet new bloggers and read such interesting posts from them.
Are you doing the UBC, if so how are your stats going? Keep up the great writings, I enjoy them all! If you haven’t joined and want to learn more, click HERE to learn more about it for the October challenge.
I found out about the UBC three years ago. From there I also found out about the Ultra Blog Challenge, which goes on every month, and then the 30-Day Blog Challenge. These types of challenges are great for meeting other bloggers and getting some consistency. Once I’m settled after this move, I’ll be getting back into the challenges as I need to pull my blogs up from the sleep they’re in!
Well done on getting halfway through this one. Good luck for the rest of it.
I’m enjoying the challenge, one for writing and two for meeting some wonderful bloggers! Have fun getting settled in and let me know when you join in some challenges or if you know of others, I’d love to know about them too. Thanks for stopping by Alexandria.
This is my first time participating the Challenge. It has been so motivating to me to keep up with daily posting. I plan to reduce my posts to 2-3 times/week after the challenge, but that is more than I was doing before. I am enjoying reading the blogs of others I had not seen before…so many fun ones out there! July is also one of the months for Camp NaNoWri, which I had committed to before learning of this challenge. I have been struggling to keep up with both (I could have used the blogging for my NaNo but chose a separate project), but somehow I have managed to keep up, despite 2 travel weeks this month (one finished, one to come) and moving out of a place we have been for the past 3 years.
It’s hard when doing 2 challenges at once! The April UBC I also did an alphabet challenge and for the most did separate ones. When a challenge isn’t around, I like to post at least a few days a week also however I usually post my interesting product reviews almost daily. Sounds like you are super busy with traveling and now moving, good luck on that. I’m enjoy reading your blogs so make sure you find time for them! Thanks for stopping by.
So glad your stats are going well, Martha!! Mine are, too, but not quite as well as I had hoped. I look for a big improvement over what happens between challenges and so far, it’s about the same. I’m still glad to be doing it, though.
Hi Jeanine, I’m happy with my stats but mine too are down a bit from the last UBC but still keeping steady. I’m working on a few additions, just not sure when I will get to them with everything else going on. I enjoy challenges, whether in live or in blogging! Thanks for visiting again.
Yes, I typically find challenges necessary for motivation and accountability. They also help to maintain consistency in blogging daily. Over the past month or so, I’ve seen my Alexa numbers drop from about 1.2 million to about 886,000 (global) and just noticed my USA rank is about 174,000 (don’t recall what is was before). I know these are still high numbers, but it’s fun to see them dropping.
It’s fun to watch the stats K. Lee, makes it interesting to see how the change. Your numbers are dropping great! I haven’t checked my Alexa, maybe I should. Thanks for stopping by.
I am doing the UBC, and my stats are almost random. Occasionally very high, but, usually, well, kind of average. Still, I can’t complain. There was a time when I was happy if five people read a blog post!
The challenges have really helped. It gives me discipline so that I have to write every day. In April, I too, did two blogs challenges at once and that was a bit confusing and chaotic but I’m glad that I did that. The ABC challenge pushed my creativity because I had to find a story to go with each letter of the alphabet.
Well, it’s late and my writing is becoming more random.
Congratulations on getting halfway through the challenge.
I did both of those also Alice! I really enjoyed the ABC challenge, like you said it pushed my creativity too! A few I had to think outside the box, but that’s the fun part! I’m enjoying your UBC blogs! Thanks for visiting.
I started one of those challenges but fell behind when a place i wrote for had a bunch of down time. I don’t think I finished. I use to write challenges every month and participate in a bunch of them. I need to think about what ones I want to do next.
The thing with challenges, many people say they didn’t finish and think they failed, but I say with everyone being so busy in life, if you tried, you are still a winner! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Sandy.
Still slogging away through the challenge. It’s been interesting so far, but a wee bit tiring.
I’ve done a few challenges and for some reason, this one by far seems the slowest. Not sure why, I have loads up topics, I just can’t seem to get into motion. But I’m still slogging away too Savvy Age! Keep it going!
