Croissant Sandwiches
Since I don’t usually eat much regular bread, I find alternatives for sandwiches. One way I like to make a sandwich is with a croissant. When at Sam’s Club I picked up a package of a dozen croissants and had fun coming up with different ways to use them. Some were just with butter, some were used as a dessert by adding a cream cheese with mini chocolate chips added and others were breakfast or lunch sandwiches.
Look at my delicious tuna melt on a croissant! I added a piece of cheese and melted it before adding a slice of tomato. Served with broccoli crunch slaw for me while Rich opted for garden peas. I also make these with chicken, crabmeat or shrimp salad. So many options!
Still working on my dozen croissants I came up with a breakfast sandwich! I made an omelette with eggs, butter, heavy cream and added crunched up bacon, diced onions and peppers and of course cheese. I put a light layer of butter on a sliced croissant and browned it before added my omelette. I don’t have a picture but I also made french toast from a croissant! Just slice it and dip both sides in a egg and milk mixture with cinnamon added. Add some butter to a pan and cook until golden brown. Both of these meals were delicious and filling, a great way to start my day.
Another alternative to bread is a tortilla. I love making sandwiches using them and this is a blog I posted in 2021 with a few options, It’s a Wrap !
These are just a few alternatives that make a sandwich look inviting to eat!
I love versatile foods, they allow to to be creative – and sometimes go a little crazy.
Cool croissant creations! The peas look delicious!
Have you and Lia ever made your own croissants? I have never. Seems such an involved and lengthy process.
I like being creative when planning meals Tamara. We’ve never thought about making croissants, maybe I should check this out!
I use wraps more than anything these days.
Those are Lia’s favorite too Brenda!
Yummy :p! I love croissants! Great alternative ideas to bread. I sometimes use lettuce, spinach, or cooked shredded cheese as a carb-less alternative, but I still very much enjoy all types of bread. Thank you for sharing. Sending love.
I love using lettuce as a replacement to bread Jaime!
YUMMY! Nothing beats a toasted croissant!
This is my new “go to” sandwich Cindy!
What a great idea. As a diabetic, I struggle to keep my blood sugars down with a normal, carb-heavy sandwich. These would seem like a real treat, and the extra fat in the croissant slows digestion so no blood sugar spike. Win – win.
WOW I learned something new Janice, I didn’t realize croissants had extra fat! They are delicious.
Yum! Those all look and sound SO good. I want to try the french toast. I am going to try to remember to grab some and try it.
The french toast was delicious Jeanine! Crispy on the outside but melt in your month on the inside!
