Countertops and Cupboards

Can you guess what I did over the weekend? I reorganized my countertops and cupboards AGAIN!! Back in April I posted a blog about my rearranging the kitchen countertops. I liked how I arranged the countertop appliances…or so I thought.

In October I moved things around again. I moved the mixer next to the toaster oven and lined up all the Ninja appliances next to each other on the opposite side. YES! I like this idea, everything is perfect, and Lia approved of where her mixer is because it’s closer to her baking cupboard.

Saturday morning I started making baked beans from my grandma’s recipe, they smell so good baking! Then I looked through a cupboard and things we haven’t used in over a year were looking at me. I took everything out and have them ready to donate then I rearranged my extra Ninja blender mixing container, the smoothie cups and blending blades that had been stored on the counter and put them in the cupboard. Then I had extra room on the counter so I brought a glass cookie container over and put Rich’s Splenda in it. Now it’s right next to his coffee maker! But wait, the coffee and creamer were in another cupboard away from where the coffee maker is now. So I moved those to the now empty shelf and everything is now in on spot and hands reach. I’m liking the new arrangement and hope Rich remembers where his coffee is!

Now I had empty space on the other cupboard. What to do with that. It didn’t take long to figure it out. I turned that into my cocoa and tea cupboard! I love Tazio and Henry and Son’s flavored teas and previously I had then on the second shelf stored in a bag but I knew I could find a plastic container somewhere in the house.

I did better than that, I found an extra set of three little storage containers that were left over from when I was organizing Lia’s art supplies that were the perfect size for tea bags! I only needed two but decided to store the extra one in the cupboard so I know where it is if needed.

I was so happy with my rearranging of the countertops last fall but now I’m even happier with both the countertops and cupboards. I don’t think I will ever stop rearranging and finding better ideas. Would anyone like to join me for a cup of hot cocoa or tea?

By the way, my grandmother’s baked bean recipe is delicious! Rearranging was done just in time for dinner!

I’d love tea or cocoa with you!
It’s always so satisfying to weed out and rearrange things! And of course, remembering where things are now!
I’m using bookshelves my dad built in HS that’s nearly a century old for my little pantry – always feels good to open the doors for a jar of dried beans or rice, etc.

That must be so special to have your dad’s bookshelves as your pantry Nadya! I have my dad’s little chest of drawers that I just moved from the bedroom closet to my couch office!

I liked the way you rearranged your countertops and cupboards. You seem to be a really creative person who is full of productive ideas. By the way, I love both hot cocoa and tea.

    • Martha says:

Thanks Danwil, I think I have finally arranged everything perfectly! I’m not a coffee drinker, only Rich but hot cocoa and tea are for me!

You were a busy bee Martha. I wonder if you would like to take a trip to NJ to rearrange my cupboards and countertops? It would take you more than a day I think. You have inspired me to take on the countertops at least. Thanks.

Martha, I wish your joy and enthusiasm would rub off me! There are gadgets and kitchenware staring at me that haven’t been used in many years!
So I’d love to join you for a warm beverage (Tazo used to be part of the Starbucks world, but I understand it was sold to Unilever a few years ago) , and we can discuss me hiring you as my organizing expert! Deal?

    • Martha says:

That sounds like a great idea and deal Tamara! But Lia is my partner in helping so she will have to come along too! Of course we’d have to bring Rich since we are always together so you are hiring a whole team and we can get it done in a jiffy! Deal?

I rearrange my small appliances all the time. I like clear counters, but I’m not willing to give up my Keurig, Air Fryer, and Crockpot to do it! It’s nice to live with an arrangement for a while and can change it when it no longer works. Great job!

    • Martha says:

That’s me too Elisa! I don’t like to pull things out of the cupboard that I am constantly using. The only thing I gave away was my air fryer since our new over has that mode.

  6. Lily Leung says:

I’m very impressed, Martha! Everything in their places. I got my spice drawers cleaned and organized the other day. I thought that was a major feat.

    • Martha says:

Thanks Lily! Organizing spices is an major feat! I had a collapsible sock holder with maybe 20 little pockets that I converted as a spice holder! LOL

  7. Martha, another masterful job! My kitchen always can use adjustments, as things gather and sometimes things leave. The trick is to shift to meet your own needs better and better. And Lia’s.

    • Martha says:

I think this is hopefully my last organization on the same counter! I do like the way I changed the cupboards so we have a coffee on above the coffee maker and my tea cupboard! There my be hope for you yet Kebba!

  8. My kitchen is a never ending challenge in terms of my apparent lack of organizational skills. I will try and be more like you❤️

    • Martha says:

Well that’s mine too Kate! Just when I think I’m happy with everything I find a new wat to expand more room! I’m a never ending organizer!

  9. It is always good to clean out the cupboards. Matt and I need to do that before our annual inspection.

I just finished my cup of Hot Tea for the evening or I would have joined you. I like the way you organized everything. Now that I’m feeling better I wanted to do our wash room cabinet so we can get a washer and dryer and do the kitchen cabinets since its a new year but with us all being sick David is working on his days off and I need his help so this will have to wait. Although I could ask Charlie but he has gaming contest this week and I don’t want to bother him so I have extra time to rest so when David is home I will feel like cleaning and organizing. Have a good night.
