Baby Gender Reveal
The other day I wrote a blog about two young people I admire. Now some of my blogs are tear jerkers and this was one of them. I usually put a reminder to have the kleenex handy when reading but I forgot to put that on this blog. While it started out sad, it did have a good ending! In case you missed it, here is the link: http://themarthareview.com/two-young-people-i-admire/ So as to bring so smiles to those that had tears when reading this blog, I hope my today’s blog well bring you smiles and happy tears if they happen to roll down your cheeks. The Baby Gender Reveal was so much fun and a bit different from normal reveals.
This is the blog I wrote when we first received this news that our granddaughter was expecting. http://themarthareview.com/baby-love/ Caution: Kleenex are needed.
I am patiently, or should I say impatiently awaiting for my great grand baby to arrive in August. Now the cool thing is, my 5th GRANDCHILD will be having my 5th GREAT GRANDBABY! The other cool thing is how the baby gender reveal was also a total surprise to the parents! Now back in my days, I never had an ultrasound and knowing the gender was unheard of and the “safe” baby colors were
mint green or
yellow. With the modern technology of ultrasounds, parents can find out the gender and know what color to decorate the nursery.
I went into to watch the ultrasound with mommy and daddy to be, it was so exciting to see such a tiny human being moving all around, now this was definitely time for the kleenex when the happy tears arrived in my eyes. The technician was showing us different features of the little one, we heard the heartbeat and even saw a little hand waving to us! All this is seen on a huge screen like a TV. She know of the plan that the gender wasn’t to be revealed to the parents so she turned the screen off and I went over to her monitor to watch. When she typed “It’s a girl” on the picture, I had to make sure I didn’t show any emotion or scream out,
“A GIRL”!!!!
After the appointment we came back to our house where I had a pinata ready with a few mint green and yellow baby items and Hershey bars! We colored the
“HE” letters with a blue marker and the
“SHE” letters with a pink marker. Since I now knew it was a precious princess, I added the Hershey bars to the pinata but there was one extra pink one. The idea was to find which color had the most and that was the baby gender!
It was so much fun as mommy and daddy took turns trying to break the pinata. One one swing, daddy hit it so hard it flew off the pole! They scattered around looking through the Hershey bars to find out which color had the most. They found
5 blues and
4 pinks when my hubby mentioned that one bar had flown from the pinata to the grass. Mommy ran and picked it up, it was
pink! So now it’s five of each color, that has to be one more for the tie breaker.
Looking through the pile of candy, daddy found the last one,
IT WAS PINK, they are having a precious
BABY GIRL a princess just like her mommy is! Both were so excited but from day one, I keep saying it was going to be a girl. How did i know? Gramma’s and Great Gramma’s know everything!!
My hubby, AKA GREAT GRAMPA took a video of the baby gender reveal and if you want to smile or have happy tears, you’ll want to watch this! But make sure you have your kleenex!
To be continued, come August!!

As we were all leaving, the daddy to be, asked if I would tell him, even though he had a LA Dodger’s hat on (my hubby’s favorite baseball team), I didn’t budge!! LOL One thing I love to do and that’s bragging about my grands and great grands! Thanks for stopping by, stay tuned for updates!
