A to Z Food Challenge – S

I’ve been waiting for the A to Z Food Challenge – S to share a few delicious foods that I love.

The first “S” food has to be Salmon! I love wild caught Alaskan Sockeye Salmon. Wild caught has a better taste than farm raised plus wild caught is a deep red compared to the washed out almost beige farm raised salmon.

My quick and easy salmon recipe is to pan fry it with a lemon/butter sauce. It’s delicious and quick to make. I melt a small amount of butter, squeeze some lemon juice in it and pour over the salmon. It’s great even when the lemon/butter sauce runs into my broccoli or rice.

My favorite is my raspberry marinade which doubles as an ice cream or cheese cake topping. This is by far my favorite! http://themarthareview.com/super-delicious-salmon-sauce/

But I have another glaze that I use on my salmon and that is using brown sugar! I just love salmon and it’s healthy! http://themarthareview.com/delicious-brown-sugar-salmon-sauce/

I love Salmon, my hubby love Stuffed peppers. Lia has been busy picking vegetables this summer and peppers was one of the veggies she kept her eye on. When they we large enough to pick, she would take her basket to the garden and pick all she could see.

My stuffed peppers are another easy meal. I shared them in my A to Z Food Challenge – P but if you didn’t see that, here is my stuffed pepper. Hubby loves them!

Okay we need some fruit so how about juicy Strawberries? We look forward to the spring when the Farmer’s Markets have fresh picked from the fields strawberries.

Eating them right from the basket is delicious! Lia is trying to figure out how to get one in her mouth! Of course they are also great cut up in a dish and topped with whipped cream.

A Sopapilla is fried pastry or a type of a quick bread made in regions with Spanish heritage and Native Americans who call it fry bread. Other areas call them elephant ears. But when my granddaughter made her own version, we call them delicious.

Alexandra used tortillas, cut in small sections and fried in oil. After they were slightly browned, she spooned them out of the oil with a slotted spoon to drain the oil.

Alex drizzled honey over the pieces then sprinkled them with cinnamon. The next thing she added was confectioners sugar and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Add some whipped topping and you have Alexandra’s version of her Sopapilla! http://themarthareview.com/wordless-wednesday-treat/

So for A to Z Food Challenge – S today I started with healthy Salmon, delicious Stuffed peppers, good for you Strawberries and completed the meal with Sopapilla for dessert! What is your favorite on the menu?

What happened to spaghetti, I thought surely I would see it on your list. I love scones with my tea of coffee which makes tea time so enjoyable. I will sometimes make creamed spinach and add a couple of pouched eggs on top for breakfast. OK if you insist I will settle for strawberry ice cream for now

OMG Rich makes meatballs so often to go with spaghetti, I totally forgot about that Chef William! But in my defense we usually use pasta, mostly rigatoni or penne. I love creamed spinach also but opted to the strawberry ice cream. LOL

I would love to try Salmon. I loved stuffed peppers. I wish I could say the same about strawberries.
