No matter how advanced science has become some people still opt for natural and herbal ways to deal with things. For centuries people have used plants and herbs to achieve wellness. Essential oils are extracted from plants after the distillation process that contains odor and properties of these plants. There are uncountable benefits of these oils and can be used in different ways. Even people who are known to essential oils for years are still learning new ways to use essential oils. Following are a few ways to you can use essential oils.

 

 

Cleaning: 

House with kids have marks and greasing everywhere on the furniture and walls. Before spending hours to rub it off or scrub it out next time, put few drops (3-4 drops) of lemon essential oil on the marks/grease and rub it with a cotton ball it will get them off within few minutes. This technique can also help you to remove stains of permanent marker from walls. You can add few drops of your lemon essential oil in your dishwasher to cut of grease more easily.

Make Your Home Smell Fresh All Day Long:

Humans and pets have their own kind of smell. If you want your home to smell fresh all day long, add few drops of your favorite peppermint or lavender essential oils to the air filter of your HVAC system. You can smell the scent of essential oil throughout the room. In addition to this, during winter you can add a few drops of essential oil to cotton balls and place them around or use a diffuser.

Add flavor to your food:

Cilantro oil, cinnamon essential oil, citrus oil, or lime oil can be used in different food such as homemade guacamole, cinnamon rolls, fish or just making a veggie dip or salad dressing to add some extra zesty flavor and lots of health benefits.

Protect your Hair, Skin, and Feet:

Tea tree oil is an amazing essential oil that is widely being used in hair care and skin care products due to its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. If you are suffering from the dry and flaky scalp, add 3-4 drops of tea tree oil in your shampoo and work it into your hairs as usual and wash it. Similarly, if your skin is too dry or you are suffering from eczema use naturally prepared moisturizer by adding a spoon of tea tree oil to a jar of coconut oil and apply it as a night moisturizer. Soon you will start to notice the difference. In addition to this, you can use tea tree oil on your foot nails as an alternative of cuticle oil, the oil will reduce the chances of getting nail fungus.

Avoid Bad Breath:

To avoid bad breath, you can DIY toothpaste by using sea salt, coconut oil and a few drops of peppermint essential oil and brush regularly.

Upset Digestion?

Wild orange essential oil can be used to treat upset stomach of an infant by massaging 2 drops of wild essential oil with 1 table spoon of coconut oil. Although a stronger mixture can be used for an adult.

    Wow, such an informative article. So many oils with so many different uses! I personally like using shampoos that contain Argan oil and other natural oils for my hair. I always use Olive or vegetable oil in cooking as well, and i like using different essential oils in diffusers to keep my home smelling nice!
