ZINK hAppy Phone Printer
What a neat little printer for smart phones and tables. The ZINK hAppy Phone Printer works with both Andriod and iOS. I didn’t have any problems setting it up on both my Samsung Galaxy Note or my Apple IPad.
The Quick Start Guide has step by step instructions for setting up the wireless, WI-FI enabled printer. It’s very easy to follow with the diagrams and printed directions.
It comes with an AC Power Adapter that plugs into the bottom of the printer and I like how it has notches on the side to place the cord so it’s neatly intact and comes out the rear. The power button is on the back corner and after I press it, the printer powers up in about 30 seconds. This cool thing about this printer, it doesn’t take any ink! It works on rolls of Zink paper that is heat activated to release the embedded colors in the layers. With the four different paper widths, there are many options that can be printed. The Zink Zero Ink printer comes with the 1/2″ width roll of paper but other sizes available are 3/8″, 1″ and 2″ with all the rolls about 19″ long. I wish the price of the papermwas a bit more affordable, it would be great for school projects.
The paper roll easily slides in the groove at the back of the printer and clicks in place. The two narrow rolls are great for making labels and name tags.
When setting up the picture or label, it’s easy to adjust the finished length just by clicking on the label length to set your proportion. After the printing is complete, I just run my finger across the groove on the front when the lights flash and it cuts the print.
With the protective coating on the front, the print is also dry so no smudging plus there is no worry of color fading and just peel off the backing for self sticking labels or pictures. After I had the printer hooked up, I downloaded the app and was ready to print in less than ten minutes.
There are a variety of artworks, frames and backgrounds to play with plus I can print photos that are saved on my device. Since the printer weighs less than 4 pounds, it’s easy to put in my bag and carry it with me where ever I go to print pictures right then and there. They have even included a cleaning zRoll that is inserted in the back where the paper goes. It’s suggested to go through the cleaning cycle after 20-30 prints or sooner if streaks appear.
I’m looking forward to ordering the wider paper roll to see how well it does on photos but so far I am pleased with the quality of the Zink Zero Ink Printer. I received this printer for free in exchange for my honest review and all opinions are my own.
