Yummy Dessert Time
Today’s Ultimate Blog Challenge topic is yummy dessert time so I had to go with this topic since Lia and I love to bake cookies, quick bread, cakes and even ice cream! We are getting ready for Lia’s Sunshine Bakery Alzheimer’s Fundraiser bake sale on April 22nd along with our community garage sale. So today is the perfect day to share recipes.
I have so many “favorite” cookie recipes, I think mine and Lia’s also is our Italian drop cookies, of course they are covered with sprinkles. These are also the top seller at Lia’s bake sale. I’m sharing a link below with the recipe in it.
Sometimes we start out making a recipe per the package like in the Toll House Chocolate Chip cookies. As we are mixing it up, Lia decides to add ingredients! Usually we divide that batter, make half chocolate chip and the other we add bananas! The bananas make the cookie so moist and delicious!
This is a blog I wrote a few years ago with our tried and true delicious desserts! The Italian cookie recipe, my grandmother’s out of this world chocolate mayonnaise cake with meringue frosting plus apple crisp recipe links are in it! http://themarthareview.com/its-dessert-time/
I have to throw these in for the healthy ones, my Squash cookies! I cut summer squash in thin slices, dip in egg then flour and fry in avocado oil until browned. After they are cooled I put in freezer bags and store them so I can prepare “fresh” summer squash year round. That is if I don’t eat them all first! The fried up squash is so good for a snack so I now call them SQUASH COOKIES!!
What is your favorite cookie or dessert? Lia and I have a stack of new recipes we will be trying over the next few weeks so stay tuned!
My favorite cookie is probably the peanut butter with the chocolate kisses in the middle, but my overall favorite dessert is fruit pies!
I loved discovering this blog and that you include your grandbabies in the creation process! SO cool!
Thanks for visiting Safrianna, Lia loves to bake and I’m hoping she continues as she gets older. I love the peanut butter with Hershey’s kiss also!
Lia is becoming quite the accomplished cook! Kudos to you both. I like your matching aprons. 😁 My mom used to prepare eggplant the same way you described how you make your squash cookies. They weren’t snacks though, we ate them with our food.
Yes I make eggplant the same way Florence. Both are great for a meal or snack!
Martha, I used to be quite the baker, so I love any post you do about baking. My favorite of the cookies you mentioned today would be the squash cookie. Major yum!!!
Oh Kebba I love the squash cookies. Eggplant cookies are delicious too!
Yum! You guys always look so cute in your baking pics with the aprons, and so do the treats. I love that Lia is already a creative cook.
Thanks Jeanine, we both love baking!
We make something like those squash cookies too!! And add some chili powder and salt as well to the batter 🙂 But i will choose Lia’s cookies over anything else anyday (my sweet tooth and Lia’s smile will win!!)
LOL yes her cookies are the best Vidya but I still enjoy my squash cookies!
I hope you have a amazing time at the Garagfe Sale and sell out of everything. As well as make lots of money for your Fundraiser. Have a good week and a nice weekend. Give Snowball a hug from Charlie, David and I.
Thanks Glenda, I received over $500.00 in donations to the Alzheimer’s Fundraiser!
