Yummy Apple Crisp
Some of my viewers have read my Friday Story Time by Lia blogs but since I’ve had so many cool stories on other days, I’m changing my blogs to Story Time by Lia since I never know what day of the week I will be sharing my stories. Today Mama and I made yummy apple crisp and I wanted to share it with you!
Mama got the recipe from an old recipe book her mommy had years ago.
This is the Apple Crisp recipe from the American Home All-Purpose Cookbook
4 cups slilced, pared, and cored cooking apples
1 cup flour
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp. ground cinnaon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter or margarine (I used butter)
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Put apples into a greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Blend flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter then sprinkle over the apples. Bake 30 – 35 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is slightly crusty and brown. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
The first thing I did was wash the apples and then use this nifty apple slicer that cuts the apple in ten little slices and takes the core out too. All mama had to do was cut off the skin.
Look how easy it is to use the apple slicer, I just push the slicer over the apple and it cuts the apple in slices.
Of course as I was slicing them I had to do a taste test on the apples. I love apples!
After I buttered the bottom of the pan I poured the apples in and spread them around until they were even in the bottom.
We made the topping with flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter. Since the butter was still hard I put it in a bowl and mama microwaved it for about 20 seconds before adding it to the other ingredients.
After whisking all the ingredients together we sprinkled the mixture over the apples. Now it’s all ready to pop in the over for 30 minutes.
The apple crisp smelled so good while it was baking and as soon it was done mama had to dig in right away and sample it with whipped topping! Mama said it was amazing and such a yummy apple crisp.

This looks amazing and Charlie could make it for Thanksgiving Dinner for his grandmothers house as a Gift to her as we will not be here this year to eat with her. Were going to Oklahoma to have dinner with my brother and I can’t wait.
That would be great for Charlie to make. It’s simple and oh so delicious. Let me know if you or C make it Glenda.
