Writing Through the Soul Book Review
When I read the suggested blog topic for today, it was a no brainer! The topic is to review a book or movie and I had the perfect book. I hope you enjoy my Writing Through the Soul book review.
Writing Through the Soul is a Poetry Collection by my friend Brenda Fluharty. A little about Brenda before I get to the review….. I met Brenda through social media and blogging way back when there was a writing site called Bubbles. We have been Facebook friends since I don’t know when but it seems like I have known her forever. Brenda is such a sweet, caring and loving person and in ways she reminds me of my granddaughter. Her love for writing comes from her grandfather who gave her support and encouragement to keep her passion going.
There are 77 poems in the book and I can tell Brenda put her heart and soul into them when writing. It’s like her poems are speaking to you.
On some of the poems, Brenda adds a short paragraph before the poem. When reading this poem, it brought back sad memories of a few family members but as the ending reads, “You have learned to think and speak for yourself.” Her poems have so much meaning for many.
I thought it was quite ironic that this poem is on page 7. Seven is a special number for me, we have 7 grands and 7 great grands. Our great granddaughter, Lia Faith is an Earth Angel. When I read this poem, I was reading everything about Lia.
I enjoyed reading Brenda’s Writing Through the Soul and I’m so happy and excited for Brenda. I’m sure there will be more books to follow and I can’t wait to see where Brenda takes our minds next.
This is a book that I plan to keep on my nightstand. When you open the book to any page, it seems to be a poem that touches your heart. Congratulations Brenda on publishing your first book! Hugs and love to you and I’ll be waiting for your next publication! Brenda’s poetry book Writing Through the Soul is available on Amazon.
The magic of moonlight is such a beautiful poem.Loved your way of reviewing poetry
Brenda wrote so many wonderful poems but my favorite is Earth Angel, it’s like she was writing about Lia! That poem will be Lia’s poem from now on! Brenda is so talented and I’m blessed to call her my friend. Thanks for visiting Amrita.
I love how you combined the review with true insights and images from your own life. Beautiful!
It was so easy to combine my true insights Julie, it was like Brenda’s poems were speaking to me. Plus OI had to include images of Lia, our earth angel with Earth Angel poem. I’m happy you enjoyed the review.
It seems like Brenda’s book was written just for this time, but troubles are always around us. For that reason, having a book like this close at hand can be a comfort when the only solution is to step back, take a deep breath and take back control of what you can control, your reactions and your thoughts.
Well Brenda started this book about a year ago, perhaps she had a sixth sense of what was to come? But yes, there is comfort when reading her poems and I’m so excited for her Doug!
Those were powerful poems. I especially like the one from page 97, “Better Days.” It gives me hope for the future, and I’m sure it will others too.
My thoughts exactly Rani! However I also have a few loved ones that this poem could have been written for. I love Brenda’s style! Thanks for stopping by.
What a great review! And those are beautiful poems. Thanks for sharing them.
I love how Brenda puts her thoughts into poems Jeanine. There are so many of her poems that connect with me personally, especially Earth Angel.
Wow!! These are great, and very relatable poems! Love love love!
I was in awe as to how we could relate to so many Alexandra! Brenda must have subconsciously written Earth Angel for Lia!
Thank you so much for this lovely review of Brenda’s book… I am so fortunate to count you and Brenda both as my friends through blogging..
I was thinking back trying to remember when I “meet” Brenda but I know it was years ago. Her compassion for others has always stood out and like you, I’m fortunate to have Brenda and you as friends. Thank you Vidya!
Great review. 🙂
I was so excited to see Brenda publish her first book Amanda. There is so much meaning to her poems.
