Wordless Wednesday Fireworks

The first night when we arrived in Indiana, some friends of my grandson Zac put on a private fireworks show. It was awesome and we had front row seats with an over two minute finale! I hope you enjoy the Wordless Wednesday Fireworks display.

Glowing Lights

I have to add some words to the ending of my blog. Do you see the glowing lights in the background of this picture? No they are not aliens.

They are the lights on the wind turbines at windmill farms! The wind turbines are huge and this is a closeup of one of them. I’m not sure how they differ from solar panels but most of these are on farm land and they lease it from the farmers who get paid up to $8000.00 per year per wind turbine! So along with Wordless Wednesday fireworks, I shared some information on wind turbines. Hope you enjoyed the fireworks display, do you have a favorite picture of the fireworks?

  1. Martha, these fireworks images are unspeakably beautiful! They should become book covers or pillow covers or who knows. But they are beautifu! Zach’s friends really know how to design fireworks. Wow! Thanks for sharing these.

WOW Kebba, now you gave me an idea! I have fabric sheets that can be printed on like paper and what a cool idea to make a fireworks pillows!

Wow, Martha! Spectacular display. I love them all. Very interesting about the wind turbines. I hear they make a lot of noise. A lot of money for the farmers though.

    • Martha says:

Thanks Lily, it was amazing. Some of the wind turbines are close to the road but I did notice that most are in fields and more in the country part of town. Maybe that’s because of the noise, they are huge and yes a great help for the farmers.

  3. Ooh! I love your fireworks pictures. They are so beautiful! And I didn’t get to see any fireworks on the 4th, so this is nice.

What a lovely firework show! The pictures came out great, too!

How did Snowball cope with the noise?

Wind turbines generally have higher efficiency in converting energy into electricity and can produce more consistent power in windy areas, but solar panels tend to be cheaper to install and maintain, and they are more versatile in terms of location and scale of deployment.

In other words, there is a place and a time for each of the two.

Snowball doesn’t like fireworks Tamara and these were super loud so we left him to guard our apartment. I have a camera set up when we go out and I tell him we’ll be back soon as he’s looking at me with his sad eyes. But as soon as we leave he curls up and goes to sleep LOL Thanks for the wind turbine info, I wasn’t sure what the ins and outs were between those and solar. But for $8000 per turbine, sounds like the farmers make out well. In South Carolina many are going with solar panels but I’ve heard it takes years to recoup what they cost.

How much fireworks can you buy for $8000?

  6. Doug says:

Martha, those are stunning photographs, so sharp and clear with vibrant colors. Very tricky with a black background.

The fireworks are beautiful. I love how colourful they look Martha.

  8. Kristine says:

Your photography is amazing! And there’s nothing like being in the front row. The smell of the sulfer, the heat from the ignition. Congrats-that looks like so much fun. I look forward to your next post!

    • Martha says:

Oh yes, front rows seats were awesome plus there was no pushing and shoving since it was mainly friends and family. The ones who set it up were awesome! Glad you enjoyed the show Kristine!

  9. Great photos. They are pretty fireworks.
