Where Did the Comment Section Go?

The topic for today’s Cornerstone Content Blog Challenge is content that offers expert advice and I hope my blog about where did the comment section go help you if it ever disappears on your blog like it did on mine. This is for WordPress so not sure if other platforms would be the same.

Back on one of my previous blogs a reader left a message on my Facebook blog post that there was no section to leave a comment. I didn’t even notice that when I posted the blog but when I checked sure enough there was no comment section.

The only change made to my blog was when WordPress updated to a new version. I’m not sure if that had something to do with it or what but I started a search to see if I could figure out how to get the comment section back on my own.

I started checking the POSTS and PAGES section on the left side of my blog. Under the POSTS I could turn the comments on for an individual blog post or click BULK ACTIONS and turn comments on for all posts.

Notice on the right side under the Tags where it says Allow Comments on the top screenshot it is not checked off so comments can’t be left. On the second screenshot, after checking the box to the left of Allow Comments and clicking UPDATE in the bottom right corner, comments will be enabled. It was as simple as clicking the box and my comment section reappeared!

This is a blog I wrote earlier with a great tip if your content mysteriously leaves as you are writing your blog. The link at the end of the blog offers even more advice when writing blogs. http://themarthareview.com/control-z/

I like trying to come up with a solution to things on my own before calling for help. It’s just another challenge that hopefully I’m determined to figure out.

  1. I think I remember when that happened. I have experienced that with other bloggers, too. It’s weird, these glitches! Glad you were able to find a solution.

I love being able to come up with the solutions on my own Jeanine. But when there is a time when I get stuck, there are always bloggers to help me out.

It can be so hard when you can’t find something.

Yes it can Amanda! I had no idea it was gone until one of my readers alerted me. For me it’s a challenge to try to come up with a solution to a problem before a ask for help.
