WHATTA DINNER
WHATTA DINNER!
I sure do love opening the freezer and pulling something out without knowing exactly how I plan to prepare it. Well I had some chicken legs so I let them thaw the night before and arranged them in the crock pot and put in the refrigerator to prepare our meal and my oh my whatta dinner!
I turned the crock pot on before we left for work with the chicken legs and seasonings. There are many ways to make a meal with chicken but this time I decided to add sauce and have pasta with the chicken legs. I had a container of frozen sauce that hubby made so I took that out to thaw while we were at work. As soon as I opened the door when we got home, the aroma of the chicken smelled so good! I removed the legs and drained the broth then put the legs back in the crock pot. I then started to add the sauce to the pot but got a surprise….there were meatballs and sausage mixed with the sauce! I forget when I froze the sauce, I had left over meat that I put in the container. So the chicken legs, meatballs, sausage and sauce were all simmering while I boiled up the pasta.
This was such an inexpensive but delicious meal not to mention filling! Hubby prefers shells but I like spaghetti so I can twist it around my fork plus I smother mine with Parmesan cheese.
I also packaged up a meal for a good friend that recently moved and hubby and I went to visit him to see his new house. I wasn’t sure if he had already made plans for dinner so I put the chicken, sausage and meatballs with sauce in a freezer container and added a small package of spaghetti for him to cook whenever he was hungry. I still have enough chicken left for another meal for hubby and I, just have to cook up more pasta.
Do you plan your meals or do you wing it like I do?
ULTIMATE BLOG CHALLENGE day 2
Wow! A smorgasbord of meats there. It does sound good. I love a good pasta dish.
I’m not a meal planner. In fact I’m not a meal cooker. Most days my meals are sandwiches. No time to cook, hubby won’t cook for me, and the silly man refuses to leave a crock pot on if neither of us is home. He’s afraid the house will burn down.
I don’t usually have time for making meals that take much time either. By the time we get home from work, I want to eat. LOL. That’s why I love crockpot cooking. My latest is cooking on my induction burner where I can whip up a meal in less than 20 minutes. My chicken meal turned into a surprise with the meatballs and sausage! Thanks for stopping by my kitchen Nona!
