Weekend Off, What Is That?

Here we are 6 days into the October Ultimate Blog Challenge and I’m brain dead for a topic! LOL So I decided to take the suggested topic from Paul, our admin of the UBC. The topic is whether you take the weekend off. WEEKEND OFF, WHAT IS THAT????

When we had our interior decorating business, hubby and I worked around the clock sometimes 7 days a week. The reason was because with just the two of us doing the fabrication work, we had to stay on top of it or we would end up getting buried in fabrics. Last October, after 52 years in business, we closed our shop due to hubby’s health issues. We knew there would be no way we could just “slowdown” because I’m never able to say no to anyone. We loved seeing the smiles on our clients when we created window treatments for them and if that meant working on weekends to make them happy, that’s what we did.

So for the past year what have we done now that there is no going to work everyday? WE ARE BUSIER THAN BEFORE!! Neither hubby or I can just sit around so we always find something to keep us busy. He loves taking to his roses and gosh do they listen, the rose bushes stay loaded with beautiful flowers! I just took these closeup photos this morning, wish you could smell them.

As for me, I am always working on the computer with my earning sites and reviewing products plus I’m President of our HOA. Yes, that means it’s still 7 days a week but I love, love it!

What’s that you ask, what about Lia? Our granddaugther and Lia come over Monday and Wednesday. Her daddy is a full time student and those are his longest days so they come out and we do crafts, go to the park for nature walks, work on Minky blankets and more review products.

Of course Lia loves being outdoors helping GGpapa do they yard work I love the look on her face while she’s mowing the lawn, the face of determination!

I remember when my grandmother was in her 80’s and she was still sewing but a few mistakes were made. After gramma went to bed, my mom and I would rip the seams apart to correct the mistakes. Mom told my grandmother maybe it was time to stops sewing. Gramma looked at her and said if she was made to stop sewing, she might as well die. She loved sewing, baking and cooking so needless to say, mom and I keep ripping while gramma slept. I feel the same way, I need to stay busy, whether it be sewing, computer, baking or volunteering nothing will slow my down.

See it’s the weekend and I’m working away on the computer while dinner is smelling good cooking! Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Hi, Martha! You must be very good at interior decorating. Those pics tell it so.

Some people have ‘green thumb’ as they say. Maybe it’s true. I haven’t had a plant survive when I touch them!

Thanks Bing, I learn to sew by watching my grandmother way back when I was a little one. I love being creative and when I see the clients smile, I know they are happy. Plants is not my thing either, but hubby has a green “hand”!!!

  4. Ha! I had to read your post today because I used Paul’s theme to blog about working all the time too. But I’m a day behind! I don’t work as much as I used to, but when I can safely close my doors for business in a few years…I want to grow up and be like you and your hubby! Maybe by then, I’ll have grandkids to spoil! Not anytime soon though. LOL
