Tuesday Tips
Today I’m sharing some Tuesday Tips that you might enjoy!
Soda Can Cake
You need or crave a cake but don’t want to pull out all the ingredients or you don’t have oil on hand to make a packaged cake. No worries, you can make a soda can cake with a can of soda and a box of cake mix! I don’t drink soda but usually have it on hand when we have visitors over.
This is my soda can cake using Dr. Pepper. Just pour a can of any flavor of soda in the dry cake mix batter and whisk it together. I got a bit fancy before I baked it by adding Hershey kisses with marshmallows, Werther’s Candy Apple Caramels and sprinkles. Bake as the directions on the box. This cake is so moist and delicious!
Crumbled Cookies
The other day I posted about stale donuts so how about stale cookies or you have a pile of crumble cookies that you can’t pick up to dunk in your milk. Well I came up with crumbled cookies cereal! LOL Add the pieces of cookies in a bowl of milk and top with whipped cream for a quick dessert!
Halloween to Christmas Pillows
I posted my trick about stuffing outdoor pillows with plastic bags in October. This is a great way to be able to use pillows outside without the stuffing getting wet or moldy. This is our Halloween pillow display on the front bench. I was getting ready to store them for next year when I had a brainstorm. The backs were a cream so I flipped them over, added some pretty ribbon and ornaments and made Christmas pillows from my Halloween pillows!
Poop Bag Holder
We misplaced Snowballs poop bag holder and he loves going for walks! I came up with the idea to make one from an old pill bottle. Rich drilled a hole in the top the perfect size to push the bags through while the roll is neatly stored in the bottle. We can pull one off the roll when needed and we’re all set for Snowball’s walk!

I hope you enjoyed my Tuesday Tips and they may have even made you chuckle!
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me, Martha!
Thanks Kimberly, I just love coming up with ideas.
Yum – Thanks for the tip. I rarely – almost never, drink soda but do have it on hand. Since I rarely bake as well this is an easy peasy way to get dessert going without much effort.
I don’t drink soda at all but usually have Sprite or Dr. Pepper on hand for Alex. It is super quick and easy for a last minute dessert.
I didn’t know about adding a can of Soda to a Cake Mix but will have Charlie do that this week in his Homeschool Cooking Class. As for the Pillows I liked them and Cookie Cereal is something I will share with C.
The soda cake will be awesome for Charlie’s cooking class Glenda! You can use any flavor soda or cake mix. Let me know how it goes, the cake is very moist!
Very clever to use synergies with your pillows!
How did the soda cake taste? I once made a Coca-Cola cake, but I didn’t use a boxed mix, it was from scratch. I thought it was quite good, soft and moist.
The cake was deliciously moist and super quick and easy using a boxed mix. Great for a last minute put together dessert Tamara.
That pill bottle idea is a great one!! Your Snowball knows how to entertain himself!!
Snowball is a hoot Kate!
Cool tips from you, Martha. I appreciate you sharing them. I’ll share your cake and cookie tips with my wife.
Hope she enjoys them Danwil
Never heard about that soda cab cake deal.
Awesome way to make a cake.
