Trip to the Fort Fisher Aquarium
It’s Friday Story Time by Lia again and wait until you see the surprise trip Pop took us on the other day! We went on a trip to the Fort Fisher Aquarium in North Carolina but it wasn’t just a drive in the car to get there. Pop said we had to get on a boat and I told him I’ve been on grandpa’s boat so I won’t be scared.
But this wasn’t just a normal boat, pop drove the car right on the boat too! So mommy, ma, pop and I along with the car were on a big Ferry boat and crossed the water to get to the aquarium. It was so much fun being on the ferry boat and watching the other boats.
I pointed to a huge boat and ma said that’s the same kind we were on. I could see the cars as the boat passed us and I waved to the people who were on their way back from Fort Fisher.
The ride took about 30 minutes and it was so much fun. I watched the boats go by and saw a long pier in the water. This is the first time I’ve been on a ferry boat and now I want to ride it again!
It took about 10 minutes to drive from the boat to the aquarium and I was excited to get inside. The first thing we saw were a few otters but they were lazy and didn’t want to get up and play in the water. I even went in the Otter bubble but they still didn’t want to get up and play! Maybe next time.
Guess what?? One of the otters name was Leia and she is three years old just like me! It’s spelled different than mine name but it’s still Lia!!
There were two big alligators in a tank and I thought the were pretend because they were so still. But then they started swimming around! They had a white alligator but I wasn’t surprised because I have seen one before at Alligator Adventure.
As I was watching the alligators swimming around slowly, the biggest one swam right over to the glass where I was standing! It was like he was saying hello to me!
Thi is a full size statue of an alligator. I would never get this close to a real one! But look at me inside the alligator’s mouth!
If being inside the mouth of an alligator wasn’t enough, look at this huge shark’s mouth! I look so tiny next to it while making silly faces.
There were big tanks filled with all different kinds of fish and some were so tiny while others were big! Look at the gigantic shark! The tanks have glass bubbles that I can stand in to see all the way to the top of the tank. It looks like I’m right in the water with the sharks!
I liked watching the Rays swim past me, they just slowly make their way around the large tank they share with other fish.
Momy and I l went upstairs and we could get a great view of the Rays swimming around!
Now this was fun! There is a touch tank at the aquarium and I got to touch a horseshoe crab! When touching them you have to be very careful and only put two fingers gently on their back.
My favorite color is yellow and look at these yellow seahorses! Pop and I are checking to see where more are hiding.
This doesn’t even look like anything but it’s a Sea anemone. They are a predatory marine animal and related to corals and jellyfish.
Speaking of Jellyfish, look at all of them in the Jellyfish tank! We have a lot of these in the ocean at Myrtle Beach and Pop got stung by a big one when swimming.
When we got to the turtles, it was like a treasure hunt trying to find them! Some were on rocks or leaves but others were hiding in tree trunks! Don’t these turtles have pretty shells?
I had such a fun time on my trip to the Fort Fisher Aquarium and when I left I just had to join in with the two frogs! Don’t I look just like them sitting like they are?
I hope you enjoyed my ferry boat ride and trip to the aquarium. I love all kinds of animals and it’s fun to learn about them. If you are every in North Carolina, stop by for a visit to this fun learning aquarium!
