Today is AMA Day!
I’ve been waiting for this! Today is AMA Day!! What is that you ask? It’s when you can ask me (or Lia) anything and we will try to answer it the best we can. Please nothing political. Thank you, Paul, for this great suggestion for today’s blog topic.
This blog kind of goes along with sitting on the porch with friends sipping on hot chai latte, an iced chai latte or coffee.
Maybe you would rather have hot chocolate topped with whipped cream! It doesn’t matter because if you were sitting here with me, I have all of the above to serve you! While sipping drinks on the porch, usually friends just start talking and then it turns into asking a question. Do you have a question for Lia or me? Whether it be about blogging, our hobbies, favorite foods, life in general or surprise us with something else just ask away.
So, here’s your chance to raise your hand and ask me anything. Lia and I will do our best to answer the questions and you never know, I may even turn your question into a blog post!
Lia, how old were you when you started cooking and baking with Martha? Do you like to bake savory foods, like cornbread or quiche? If so, do you have a favorite or two? Martha, how old were you when you started cooking and baking– with your grandmother, I think? What were some of your earliest favorite foods to make? Do you have an opinion on margarine vs. butter? I’m looking forward to what you’ll say!
Thanks for the questions Kebba! Lia’s reply: I think I’ve been baking forever and started using the mixer when I was 2 1/2. Ma would always show me how much to put in the bowl and I would mix it up. Then I started helping Pop make meatballs and his salad. I like coming up with my own recipes for cakes and cookies now. I’ve made cornbread but never quiche, maybe I’ll have Ma help me with that! Martha’s reply: Like Lia I started baking with my grandmother as far back as I remember. She had a table cupboard door that my grandfather made but it would swing up and turn into her baking island. I remember standing on one side while she was on the other and help her make cookies, bread and we even canned vegetables from our garden. I learned so much from my grandmother and so glad I did because I have been able to pass everything down to Lia. Some of my earliest favorite foods that I made were chicken and cut up potatoes baked in the oven and I loved making cooking smelt for my dad and I! We were the only ones that liked those little fish!!! Definitely butter! I know the facts say margarine is more heart healthy but when baking I just like that buttery taste.
Okay, I have a question! How’s it going with your meditation?
It’s going great Jeanine! I love going to my quiet corner, sometimes with a cup of chai tea. I use Keeba’s books alot, she has such wonderful quotes in them.
Well, dear Martha, my question is, how are you coping? I just read that you’re having trouble sleeping, and I feel for you. ♥
I’m doing okay at time Tamara then other times the flood gates open. I find if I stay busy it’s much better or when Alex, Lia and Chris are with me. It’s the nighttime that is bad and Snowball is still missing pop too. I have found something called Sleepy Time tea which is just natural herbs and spices that helps me relax and if I wake up I can usually get back to sleep. I will not take any prescription or even over the counter sleep drugs. I know it will get better in time but this is an especially hard month with our anniversary and Rich’s birthday. Thanks for thinking of me Tamara!
What your favorite flower Martha? What’s Lia’s favorite book? This is a good way to know both of you a little better .
My favorite flower has always been roses Amrita. That why Rich planted so many roses when we moved here. I love their fragrance, the different versions of colors and even the variety of the roses. As for Lia, she doesn’t seem to have a favorite book yet however I’m so happy she loves to read. One book that she has been pulling out lately was a book pop gave Alex’s, Papa Please Get the Moon for Me written by Eric Carle. It’s a cute story about a little girl wanting her Papa to get the moon for her. Good questions Amrita!
Here’s my question! Are those Coconut Crispy Rollers?! So yummy. Your coffee looks fantastic. Just look at that little munchkin raising his hand. Such a cutie!
Yes Kristine, my daughter got them from Costco and anything with coconut I love! I’m having a chai latte Frappuccino since I don’t drink coffee. Another thing my daughter got, a carton of the chai latte concentrate so all I do is add milk (hot or cold) with the liquid! Yes Snowball has to have his little bit of coconut stick too! LOL
What kind of doggy is snowball? He reminds me of a small poodle but I could be wrong.
Snowball is a Maltese and Poodle mix Amanda. The breed is called a Maltipoo. Snowball is a silly Maltipoo. LOL
