Thunder and Lightning

Today is Wordless Wednesday and last week we had a five minute thunder and lightning storm. The lightning was so intense, followed by the claps of thunder. I was standing outside under our porch roof taking photos and a video. Watch the video to the end and tell me you don’t think I was scared! Yes it’s Wordless Wednesday but I had to add words!

The top picture was taken in the dark of night with only our security light on. The second picture was taken a few minutes later, standing in the same spot but the sky was lit up like it was the middle of the day from the lightning!

I braved the elements and stood outside under our front entrance roof taking this video. As I was shooting, the lightning lit up the entire sky and it was the last one that had me running back inside. I don’t think I’ll go outside again in a thunder and lightning storm.

We had a pop-up thunderstorm here as well with sheets of rain. Fortunately, I felt something in the air and managed to get all the cushions off of our patio before the downpour. Great photos. Stay safe!

  2. That lightning at the end would have sent me running, too! Too close! Lightning is scary after being in the big 2020 tornado in Nashville in my RV. My dogs and I have a natural aversion to lightning and wind. My sister says I have PTSD, and she is probably right. Fortunately, I am getting better at letting it go. Prayer helps!

I’m so glad you are safe!

Yes it was too close for me after the fact Cindy! Won’t do that again and oh my, being in a tornado most have been super scary! God was with you!

Whoa, that was some thunder!! I would have flinched, too! What a transformation within a few minute with the two identical pictures.
I heard snowball panting, he must have been so brave!
We had a similar thunderstorm, too. It lasted at least an hour, it was scary. In a different area of the country wind speeds were up to 200km/h, which is 125 miles per hour. A construction crane crashed onto a person and killed them 🙁

That makes one appreciate having a good home to retreat to. 😉

  6. Oh, Martha, please don’t! I would hate for something to happen to you. That is scary!

Well I don’t think I’ll be going outside again in a storm Jeanine. When I first stood there it was just lightning but it’s when the thunder got mixed with it that was enough for me!

  7. Martha, oh my! I hope the stain on the fence was already well dried when this storm was going on! Thanks for the awesome pictures and video! Glad you’re OK. Was that Snowball barking in the background? If so really, how could you blame him?

    • Martha says:

This was a few days for Rich stained the fence so it’s safe Kebba. Snowball was standing by the door and probably telling me to get back inside where it’s safe!
