Throw Back Thursday
Today is Throw Back Thursday and when looking through my past blog posts, I came across one I wrote on this day in 2016. It was about how I re-purpose items to save money. When our new refrigerator was delivered, I took all the drawers from the old one before the delivery service trashed it. I ended up using all the drawers and bins to reorganize my food pantry. This is the blog I wrote two years ago: http://themarthareview.com/re-purpose-to-save-money-and-the-landfill/. After re-reading that blog post, I decided to check and see how well I managed to keep things orderly in the pantry.
So here is the pantry two years later, not too bad considering I love to hoard things! I did rearrange it a few months ago to remove the outdated things that get pushed to the back, but I’ve made myself a promise to keep the items rotated and not over buy things, no matter how good the deal it.
This is where the bin was before, way up on the top shelf!
*******I also rearranged a few bins so our short granddaughter can reach the Knorr Noodles that she loves so much. The bin use to be on the top shelf and that was too high for even me to reach easily. I also have a door bin that is perfect for my chocolate stash!
I’m pleased to say that I have been organized for two years so there may be hope for me after all! Do you have a problem trying to keep things organized? Check around for things that you can recycle to make your pantry neater and easier to find things!

That was a great idea to use the old refrigerator drawers.
I love coming up with ways to recycle things that aren’t needed for their intended purpose. Saves money and saves the landfill! Thanks for stopping by Brenda.
Okay Martha I’m coming over for the Hershey Bars! Love the recycling idea!
LOL Anne, they are SO good, especially when I got them for less than half price! Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Martha,
My word for the year is RELEASE. It is to help me get rid of stuff I have been keeping too long.
My wonderful wife has been reminding me about this for a few years. With her help, I am getting around to thinking differently about the stuff and am getting better at letting it go. The thinking change also goes into not accumulating anything new.
As for most of the house, my wife has great control over that, and I have been trained to keep it clean and not mess it up. I am still a work in progress, be patient with me.
Blog on!
I’m just the opposite Doug, I hang on to everything while my hubby is ready to release things without hesitation. I’m trying to do that and my one plan is to make memory books for our grandchildren with items that I know they have kept their eyes on or mentioned they like it. That’s my next major project. Keep releasing, we can do it!
Awesome idea. I wish I had your talents.
Oh Lori, you have many talents! I just need to keep at my re-organizing until every room is done! Thanks for stopping by.
