The Third Time is a Charm
What an excited Friday Story Time by Lia I have today! Mommy started taking me to the ice skating rink and she said as the saying goes, the third time is a charm. This was me when we were on our way to the ice skating rink for the very first time!
The first week we went to the rink I was excited to get there but once I was on the ice I was a little scared. I sat on the bench, looked at my feet with the ice skates and and wondered how I was going to stand up! Mommy helped me walk to the ice and held my hand while I held the rail on the edge. It was fun but I didn’t venture out for too long since I was still trying to figure out how to move my feet with skates on!
Mommy is such a great skater but I have never been ice skaing before!
The next week I was ready for the ice! I got a skate box where I hold on to the sides and it helps me stand and skate. Mommy pushed me around the ice and I wasn’t scared like I was the first week! Now I have to figure out how to move my feet without sliding all around my skate box! Mommy and I stayed a little longer the second time and I was getting use to the ice.
The third time we went, ma and pop went with us. Pop watched and took pictures of us on the ice while ma decide to see if she could still skate.
Ma told me she hasn’t ice skated for almost 60 years so I told her she could share my skate box with me. But look at ma go, she didn’t even fall while skating!
When I first got on the ice mommy pushed the box while she skated then ma took over. I learned how to move my legs and stay on my feet without falling while I held on to the skate box.
Then I got really brave and told mommy and ma I wanted to skate by myself so they let go of the box and I was skating all around the rink! Mommy and I are looking back at pop while I’m saying, “I’m going to skate by myself this time pop so make sure you get a picture!” So I guess it’s true, the third time is a charm because after the first two times, the third time I wasn’t afraid and I skated all by myself!
I had such a great time ice skating and I’m looking forward to going again next week. Mommy said when I’m four I can take ice skating lessons! I’ll be back next week for another Friday Story Time by Lia!
Never had those skate boxes when I was a kid. I guess I’m lucky I learned how without them.
I never had one either Roy, I just went down to the ice covered pond and learned by falling down a few times. LOL
Good job, Lia! I’m so proud of you. Keep up the hard work.
Lia had such a fun time on the ice Amanda. She’s one to practice until perfect!
