The Restaurant

Last Saturday evening around 8:00 PM we hugged and said our good byes to Zac in Indiana and headed home. 10:00 AM Sunday we arrived home and Lia was fully wide awake since she feel asleep almost as soon as she got buckled in. Since Alex and Taco were tired, they went home to unpack while Lia stayed with me for the day.

It was hot so we decided to go swimming but not knowing what time Alex would be back I told her we could only stay two hours.

When we got back from the pool Lia starts looking through my closet to find a dress to wear. (I don’t wear a size 6-8 kids size so I told her she was probably out of luck) Well she found a dress that worked with a pin here and a belt there! Then she went into mommy’s room and found pair of her boots… with a 6″ spiked heel! She gets all dressed and I asked her now what?

She proceeds to tell me she owns a restaurant and do I want to visit it. So downstairs we went to the restaurant. We had moved the outdoor furniture inside when we left on our trip just in case of storms so this was now Lia’s restaurant table and chairs complete with one of Lia’s hand painted unicorn center pieces.

The special of the day was corn dogs so Lia cooked up a plate of them for us to share. It was while we were munching on corn dogs she told me she was looking to hire someone because her morning workers had too much to do and couldn’t stay in the afternoon. As she was telling me this, I quietly turned my phone on video so I could record her “interview” with me.

There is no photo, just conversation and after I recorded it this way I found out my phone has a record option! Well okay, I’m not too smart with smart electronics at times. I was cracking up when I listened to the interview but Lia sounded like she was actually talking to someone about working for her!

I have so much fun when Lia and I do things like her make believe stories without any planning. She will be 6 years old in a month from today but sometimes she seems like 6 going on 16! Who knows maybe someday she will own a restaurant or at least a bakery! I hope you enjoyed the restaurant story.

I have the same cafe table only in black! Lia is such a fascinating young lady. And smart. You are so blessed to have her with you. Enjoy!

This table set replaced Lia’s little pink plastic table and chairs she had since she was about 2 years old Kristine. One day she told me she was too big for that and we should give it to some one with a little girl. So that’s what we did and Lia picked this one out herself.

  2. Lia is growing into a very stylish young lady! Can’t believe how quickly this is happening…

I know Tamara, seems like she was just starting 4K and now she’s owning a restaurant. LOL But I do love her off the cuff story telling.

  3. Oh how cute!! Maybe she will own a bakery or restaurant. She looks adorable all dressed up! I’m glad you guys had a fun day together.

  4. This gave me such a big smile. Thank you Martha and Lia. Are you guys taking any reservations?

I love when our stories make you smile Amanda, maybe someday Lia will have her own restaurant or bakery and you’ll be sure to be invited to the grand opening!

  5. Martha, what an extraordinary conversation! I listened carefully to the whole thing. Awesome! Do you and Lia ever watch movies? There is a series of Hallmark mystery movies about a woman with her own bakery/coffee shop. Her name is Hannah Swenson. I think Lia might like to see the variety of baked goods Hannah makes and invents. The movies are based on books by Joanne Fluke; in the books it’s usually winter in Minnesota, and people are always drinking hot, strong coffee. So these culinary novels wouldn’t be your favorite. However, the movies are more about baked goods, personalities, and relationships. Lia might find it inspiring to see Hannah Swenson with her own bake shop. <3

Lia does better making up conversations that I do Kebba. I love how if she stumbles on something she will just go with the flow and make it work! We don’t watch much TV anymore but I’ll have to search for Hannah Swenson and see if I can find her movies.
