The Garage is Done

Last week I posted about how excited I was to finally have half of my garage cleaned and organized. I took so much to the landfill and donated so much more. Everything is stored in bins, no more cardboard boxes!

Last week I finished the other side where I have a 5′ by 12′ work table from when we had our interior decorating store. We moved it to the garage when we retired and it was great for storage. But the time had come to clean it out. I donated a lot of our sewing supplies, got rid of our ruffler sewing machine and an embroidery machine. I was so excited to see they went to two people who could definitely use and enjoy them. I cleaned out the table in stages, there are six storage sections under the table so I cleaned and sorted each section until they were empty. Then I did the same with the things on top, I had my three boxes ready, one for recycling, one for giveaway and one to put things in to sort out later.

I found some new indoor/outdoor carpet squares for free on Market Place and they were perfect to go from the end of the table to the door going into the house. I even had enough left to go down the side of the table where storage shelves are. The TV stand had been upstairs but my neighbors brought it downstairs for me and I removed a shelf and the TV stand is now perfect storage in the garage for paper towels, kleenex, and toilet paper.

After a few days of purging I was so happy to have an empty table and no more clutter. I kept one white chair from our our dining area set because Snowball loves that chair. After all, he needs somewhere to chill when he’s in the garage! I searching to see if I can find a church, school or non-profit organization for the table, it would be great as a project or craft table for them.

I had one last project to get done before my daughter was to arrive on Sunday. So last Saturday I pulled up a piece of floor space and didn’t move until I had the entire roll top desk cleaned out. I haven’t been through the desk in years except to stick things on the drawers. They were so full I could hardly open them! Why did I save so many cable cords and what were they are for?? Doesn’t matter now, they’re tossed! LOL
The garage is done and I’m so happy to have just about the entire house decluttered! There will always be something I can reorganize but the major declutter of the house is complete! Stay tuned for one more surprise project I completed in time for Chris and Bryon!

Congratulations on completing the garage in time. It looks great, and it always feels good to purge and see what you actually want to keep.
Oh yes Kim, it feels so good to finally have it organized! Now to find a new home for the table and I can have a square dance in the garage. LOL
Way to go Bonus Mom!
Thanks, it seems I can always find something to organized Amanda.
