The Blessing
Today is another Friday Story Time by Lia and since I started school my time is limited for baking, gardening and evening playing! But today I have a short blog about the Blessing.
I have a about a 20 minute playtime in the morning before school and I’ll share about that in another blog. After dinner there is time to play and my favorite is to play school! I’m the teacher, ma and my stuffed animals are the students. I “teach” the “students” where to put their name tags, how to make sure their stations are cleaned up and to remember to line up quitely when going to the bus.
I want to share the blessing that I learned in school and yesterday I “taught” it to my stuffed animal “students.” Since it’s almost Thanksgiving, this will be the perfect blessing to give before our meal. If you have little ones, you might even want to share my blessing with them.
This was a short Friday Story Time by Lia but I hope you enjoyed it. I’ll share my morning playtime soon!
We taught our children to say two simple blessing (before they knew to read Hebrew) in the morning and the evening.
The morning prayer (translated to English) states: I give thanks before you, Eternal and Thriving King, for You have returned my soul within me with compassion and with full faith.
The evening prayer: Hear O Israel, the Lord, Our God, is One. God bless my mother, my fathers, my sisters and brothers, and me.
I love Lia’s prayer- and enthusiasm.
Saying prayers and blessings were a big part starting in my young child years. I remember saying “Now I lay me down to sleep….. it ending with God bless my mother, father, grandparents and sisters and me. Lia also knows the Pledge of Allegience.
Ooh how I love Lia’s blogs. It makes you feel good. Keep up the good work Lia.
I love her enthusiasm when she says the blessing Thelma. She is learning so much!
What a sweet prayer. When I was young we went to chapel. I don’t remember much of it.
I’m so happy that she is learning prayers and the meal blessing at school Amanda.
