Thanksgiving Meal
Today is the perfect day for my Friday Story Time by Lia to tell you about our Thanksgiving meal yesterday with mommy, ma, pop and me.
Pop was up very early and he got the turkey ready to put in the oven at 5:30am! I was still sleeping and didn’t even hear him but when I woke up a few hours later I could already smell the turkey cooking!
After breakfast I ran to the kitchen to help Ma get the ham ready. Mommy loves ham so we always have both ham and turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. I mixed pineapple juice and brown sugar together and carefully poured in over the ham. After I finished, ma got some foil and we made a tent for the ham. As I looked at it, I told ma the ham looked like a fish! Can you see his mouth and eyes? The ham fish even has a smile!
It was now time to get the candied sweet potatoes ready for the oven. While ma put the potatoes in a casserole dish, I mixed up some of the liquid for the sweet potatoes, some pineapple juice, brown sugar and butter together. Then I poured the mixture on top of the potatoes. I don’t like sweet potatoes but ma and pop love them! Since mommy and ma like scalloped potatoes I helped prepare them too.
Ma usually makes green bean casserole but since she’s the only that eats it she decided to make them different this time. She started with frozen Organic grean beans then added avocado oil and butter in a frying pan. After they were cooked enough, she added slivered almonds and dried cranberries. Ma likes to make things that are different when no one else eats them. LOL But then she told me since we already had the french fried onions, she sprinkled a few of them on the beans and continued to cook everything. I tried a few of the onions and they were good, sorta tasted like some kind of salty snack.
Our dinner is ready and smells so good! Ham, turkey, stuffing, green beans, corn, scalloped potatoes and candied sweet potatoes! Ma forgot to boil the eggs for deviled eggs so we’ll have them for a snack!
When mommy asked me what I wanted to eat I told her a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. That didn’t go over too well as she loaded my plate. I tried everything, even the stuffing and scalloped potatoes but I especially loved the ham!
Dessert was pumpkin pie with whipped cream and a cherry on top! But want to know a secret? I had my dessert in the morning while I was making dinner!!
After our Thanksgiving meal was over mommy, ma, pop and I were so full from all the delicious food. I like helping cook with ma, we have so much fun and I learn new things every time.
It was soon ready to head to gramma and grandpa’s for the weekend where I’ll have another Thanksgiving meal with my cousins! I hope you all had great day and a good meal, sending you hugs and love and now it’s time to think CHRISTMAS. It’s only one month away and I have so many ideas of things to make for Christmas gifts….I better get going!
I’ll see you next week for another Friday Story Time by Lia, see you then!
That dinner looks good. I hope you guys had a Happy Thanksgiving. 🙂
Sorry I’m late at replying Amanda, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
