Talking Trash
Since it’s the beginning of the week I thought it would be a good day to start talking trash. Now don’t get your feathers all ruffled, I’m not going to talk about anyone or say bad words. LOL But I will share my new idea to keep my kitchen trash can from getting smelly! LOL
As a reminder you know I save just about everything and the latest is saving used ziplock baggies.
QUESTION 1 – How many times do you use these bags for cookies or maybe a sandwich then toss it in the trash? Now I don’t save all of them, just the ones that are “gently” used and not smelly. And just to be on the safe side, I save my used ones in a larger ziplock bag so I don’t get them mixed up with the new ones.
QUESTION 2 – How often do you throw things away like banana peels, the skin from a cucumber, squash or other fruits and vegetables plus any left over food? Even a paper towel that has been used to wipe up spills can get smelly. Most of this gets tossed in the kitchen trash can and there it sits until the bag is full or it get’s so smelly you have to take it to the outside trash can.

If this happens to you, my solution may work for you. Any “smelly” trash I put in a gently used ziplock bag, close it up tight and toss it in the trash can. There is no smell, no chance of getting fruit flies in your trash and also no chance of whatever is in the bag leaking.
I hope my tip of the day for talking trash can benefit some of you and helps keep your kitchen smelling like the aroma of delicious food cooking instead of 3 day old leftovers in your trash can.
