Story Without any Photos

I’ve posted many blogs with just photos, they seem to get and keep my readers interest. Since I’ve been bombarding you with so many photographs on my blogs, I’m doing something a bit different today. I’m writing a story without any photos! The only one will be my feature photo. I want to see how you visualize what’s happening as you read my story.

Driving Down the Road

While riding in the backseat of her grandfather’s car, the young girl yelled to beep as he drove by a detailing shop. The grandfather slowed down and honked the horn. Meanwhile the young girl had jumped from one side of the seat to the other so she could wave to the workers at the shop. Little did anyone know that she was actually hanging partly out the back window!

Grandfather continued on and as he looked in the rear view mirror, he noticed a police car with the lights on. The only thing Grandfather said was, “OH NO, I’m getting pulled over by the police!” Meanwhile grandmother scurries for the registration and insurance card, not knowing why they were being pulled over. Now this is another upcoming story, grandfather and grandmother were out of state with their new vehicle and they hadn’t received a copy of the new registration yet!

Hearing that the police were on the way to the vehicle the young girl had thrown boxes from the backseat to the other side and slipped her seatbelt on. The policeman slowly walked up to the driver side window with his hand on his gun. Before grandfather could say anything, the officer looked at the young girl and said, “WHAT DID I JUST SEE?” She blirted out, “Officer, I’m so sorry, this is all my fault! We just got into town after driving all night and this is my brother’s shop and I wanted to wave and say hi.” “I was so excited and I wasn’t thinking.” The officer asked how old she was, she sheepishly said 25. Then he asked for both grandfather’s and her license, saying he will be right back. Everyone was a nervous wreck wondering what is going to happen next. While waiting for the officer to return to the vehicle the young girl’s daughter told her she needs to put her seatbelt on!

The officer came back to the vehicle, talked to the young girl and asked if she knew how dangerous it was to hang out the window of a moving vehicle. Again, she apologized saying it was done on impluse without thinking. “I was just so excited to see my brother after over a year.” she explained.

The officer handed back the licenses, never asked for registeration or insurance and said to the young girl, “I’m not going to give you a ticket because I don’t want you to have a hassle of paying it since you are from out of state.” “But I hope you have learned that you cannot hang out a moving vehicle’s window especially with a police officer right behind you!” That’s the part she didn’t notice, she was just excited and working on less than 2 hour sleep for everyone in over the past day didn’t help the situation.

The officer told us to get on our way, told the young girl to stay in her seat, buckled up and to have a good day.

WHEW, that couldn’t have ended so differently but the young girl learned her lesson and the officer was very nice to not give her a ticket.

What the young girl told her grandfather about the officer’s hand on his gun, she said he could have thought she was being held against her will and she was waving for help. So can’t blame the officer for being overly cautious on his part.

Grandfather slowly pulled away and the first thing the young girl did was send her brother a SNAPCHAT about her meet up with the police. Everyone had a good laugh but for the next few days when driving around town, they would be on the lookout for any police vehicles. The young girl stayed in her seat for the rest of the trip and her daughter reminder her again to make sure she has her seatbelt on. LOL

The morale of this story without any photos is when riding or driving in a vehicle always stay buckled up, don’t fly over to the other side of the seat and never, not ever jump half way out the window especially while the vehicle is moving.

Can you picture this escapade in her head without any photos?

  1. Honestly, I have a hard time picturing anything in my head! I love the concept though.

The Story is So nice! You are very creative Martha!

  3. Laurie says:

    Goodness!
    What a story.
Glad it had a good ending.
If it was a Hallmark movie, the officer would have asked the girl out and they’d have gotten married and lived happily ever after with a great story to tell their grandkids! At the annual Christmas festival.

But reality is fun, and you all have a crazy story to tell. Kudos to the police officer, who did check it out.

    Blessings,

Oh darn, I never thought of turning it into a Hallmark movie Laurie! LOL But that sounds like an excited ending. Thing is, this was a true story when we visited our grandson in Indiana last week!

  4. Martha, I definitely was able to imagine the whole thing. And told so well as a story, I could feel the emotions of it, too – the worry, and the fear about what would happen. The relief when there was no ticket. And it really drove the point home. It did take me a little bit of time, though, to realize that the story was not about Lia, since that is the picture you do see. I wonder if a picture without a person in it would make it even easier to not depend on the picture for the story. That was awesome storytelling, Martha!! You could write a book.

Thanks Jeanine! I used that picture because it was a car and driver, I didn’t think of it being Lia. LOL The entire time this went on, Lia just sat quietly in her seat without saying anything until the officer left. Then she told mommy she needs to put her seatbelt on. LOL

  5. Great story. Hopefully, it’s JUST a story.

    • Martha says:

Unfortunately this is a true story Roy. Right down the main street in Lafayette Indiana! But it ended well and Alex stayed buckled up after this!

  6. Love this, Martha! I’m still chuckling. I was thinking the same thing that Laurie said. Would love to see this movie!

Hey, Martha, is this what you guys did on your trip ? Very exciting. I was on edge of my seat.

    • Martha says:

Well this was the start of our visit once we got to Indiana Lily! After this episode, we had a great time and the young lady stayed in her seat! LOL
