Storage for Lia’s Sprinkles Challenge
Since the January UBC I’ve been de-cluttering, re-organizing and getting rid of so much unneeded stuff! For me this is an ongoing challenge especially since I love to save EVERYTHING in case I may need it. But my mindset has changed and I’m ready to get rid of things. Organizing a kitchen cupboard or drawer is a big accomplishment when I see how neat and orderly it is!
It’s been a challenge to keep Lia’s baking cupboard organized so she can have everything right at her fingertips but we have solved that problem when my neighbor gave Lia some little flip top storage jars.
Lia loves her sprinkles and adds them to so many of her recipes! She has so many different bottles of sprinkles, they are all different sizes and shapes and it was hard to stack them neatly in her baking cupboard…until she received the clear storage jars with lime green lids! Look how cool her sprinkle storage is now! I had the white rack (another review item) on the counter so I re-purposed it for the sprinkles. The jars are perfect to store sprinkles, the rack is perfect for the jars and we can have two layers! But wait, I came up with another idea!
The top rack is easy to reach behind the jars to get the sprinkle jar needed but to get the bottom jars from the back out, we had to remove the front ones first. So another challenge, find a storage tray the size of the white rack but not too high. Out to my “box” stash and I found a shoe box top the PERFECT width, length and height! It was even close to the color of the inside of the cupboard! How great is this, it holds six jars of sprinkles and we can pull it out to get to the back row! Lia and I are both happy with the newly re-organized (again) baking cupboard!
Lia was gifted so many jars that she had extra after we poured her sprinkles so I took four of them for the pantry. They work perfect for the baking powder, soda, corn starch and cocoa! Since they are clear we can see when running low and the flip lid is easy to open and seals tight. I cut the names off the labels and taped them to the jars. Of course since this shelf was so neat and tidy I had to organize the rest of the over-the-door storage. I couldn’t take a before picture because it was SO disorganized! LOL I had so many spice jars,
All these spices, a few boxes of food coloring and yeast packages were crammed in the over the door unit! See the nifty divided storage unit I used for all the spices and such? If you guess this is another review product you are correct! It’s supposed to be a sock organizer but the sections are perfect to store our spices! I can find a use for something that it’s not meant to be used for in just about everything!
The storage for Lia’s sprinkle challenge started out as a dilemma but turned into a very neat and orderly cupboard thanks to our neighbor. Where did she get them all? Her mom gets some kind of artificial coffee sweetener in them! Another re-purposed item and challenge completed. Challenges don’t have to be major, sometimes I think the small challenges are better because I can get a few small areas organized in a short time.
Those containers are perfect and I want some LOL!
Dear Lia and Martha, I am at work, but I saw the name of this post, and I just KNEW I had to take a break and head over here to find out what “Lia’s Sprinkles Challenge” was all about 😉
Great job organizing your baking supplies and spices! Now that you’re done, you’re invited to go over my kitchen cabinets, they could use a little love as well.
I’d love to take a trip to Switzerland to organize your cabinets then go to your son’s game Tamera!
This is a great idea! I love that she uses sprinkles so much – it makes things look so exciting.
Lia even adds sprinkles to her pancakes Kate!
You are the organizing queen, Martha! I love that you always find something that works for the project. Thanks for inspiring me to not just organize but approach it as a challenge to be solved, makes it feel like a fun puzzle!
That’s what I like about a challenge Kimberly, I can use them for many different things.
I love those jars and use something similar in my pantry. The problem is my husband just puts stuff back in any old place!
This is such a cool way of getting two levels of storage in a shelf .Great idea Martha
I’m al qua looking for ne ways to get more use of my storage space Amrita.
Looks great! I just recently went through my spices to throw away some that were too old. I was going to replace them but realized that I didn’t really use them anyway, so that freed up a lot of space for other things!
That’s great Angie, always good to get rid of things not needed and make more space.
I like your solution. I have to reorganize my pantry again. I have a lot of sprinkles too. I need to adopt this system for them. Lia has better sprinkles than me LOL
I think Lia could be the Sprinkle Princess Dominique. LOL
That’s a great way to store you sprinkles. I like sprinkles on my ice cream sometimes.
These storage jars are perfect plus easy to open Amanda.
Martha, I read this closely and I love it! I especially love those jars with green lids. Any idea where I can get some? Bottom line: you’re getting it done, and you rock! <3
My neighbor gave Lia the jars, she got them from her mom who gets some kind of coffee sweetener in them. I’ll try to fine more about them Kebba.
your pantry is so organized! inspires me to go clear up mine a bit!! Lia’s sprinkles are always ready to go…on cookies and cakes, I mean!
Thanks Vidya. We’re finally getting things organized and of course Lia’s baking cupboard is the neatest!
I like the jars and need them for puzzle and game pieces, Legos and Craft items like beads because they could keep our school room so much neater and would fit into C’s storage cabinet saving us time. As for the sock dispenser I also like the way you used it. I always use things for things they weren’t meant for saving me money and time.
The little jars are great for so.mwny small items Glenda. I’m happy I came up with a new idea for my sock storage bin.
