Stations of the Cross

Today is Good Friday and our church, Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, had a reenactment of the final hours of Jesus’ life and his crucifixion put on the Spanish members of the church. There are 14 Stations of the, some churches have paintings, others have sculptures, our church has sculptures.

These are the 14 Stations of the Cross but we didn’t walk around to each one today, instead we had a moving reenactment.

Jesus was being beaten as he carried the cross, he was then put on the cross. After his “death” they removed him and laid by his mother.

He is carried to the tomb, put in it and then sealed it shut.
Watching this reenactment brought tears to just about everyone. These are not professional actors and actresses but they all did an excellent job of going through the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday.
Wow, that must have been quite some experience to see a live reenactment of the stations of the cross. It is definitely something you won’t forget. The pictures are beautiful and dramatic. Thank you for sharing that with me.
It was such a moving reenactment Alice and the church members were excellent in portraying their parts.
Martha, it’s a tough remembrance for us as Christians. I admire those who can re-enact Jesus’ suffering. It’s a passionate project for them. While I weep for what Jesus went through, I am joyful at the Resurrection we will celebrate on Sunday. Let’s cry now and be renewed in the Spirit soon.
Yes Kebba, very tough but this group did an awesome recreation of Jesus’ suffering. Today (Sunday) in church it was a joyful service knowing he was resurrected. Easter love and blessings to you my friend.
Thanks Martha for the detailed review. Are you planning to go back this weekend to see some of the other stations?
It was very moving Doug and they went through all 14 stations. It started inside the church and ended outside with the three crosses and lasted about 2 hours.
I imagine this reenactment between moving and too graphic, but either way It is good to visualize something to the believers that they only know from the Bible.
Will they also reenact the resurrection?
It definitely was moving Tamara and “tastefully graphic” I’d say. They didn’t have a reenactment of the resurrection but that would have been the finishing touch.
Thinking of you this Easter. Hugs.
As I am thinking of you and Matt also and sending my love.
