Stairway Safety

This is a blog about stairway safety. After Rich had a mishap on the stairs, our granddaughter added stairway lights to the edge of the stairs.

Early morning one day last week, Rich was walking downstairs, lost his footing and fell. Our granddaughter went into action and came up with a way to light up the stairway.

We had a string of stick-on lights that are for under cabinets but Alexandra turned them into stairway lighting. She removed the adhesive backing and pressed the lights onto the stair molding! They are remote controlled and have variety of multi colors or plain. The lights can flash or stay on steady. Lia had fun checking out the different colors and light patterns. She showed pop the white lights and how they can be bright or dim.

We decided the dim light would be perfect for when he walks downstairs in the dark. We keep the remote upstairs so we can turn the lights on when walking down and then put the remote on the window sill at the bottom of the stairs for going back up.

While Lia was checking out the colors she found the red and green combination so we’re all set for Christmas colors now! No we didn’t start Christmas decorating yet, I just never took the garland down from the railing from two years ago!

This is a simple stairway safety tip to HELP prevent slips and falls for everyone.

I started my blog on Christmas Day 2014 mainly to review products I received. Since then it has evolved into many other categories of lifestyles, family, money saving ideas, low cost, delicious and healthy meals plus other surprise posts. My granddaughter has her own category, Alex's Articles and the latest addition to my blog is my great granddaughter now has her category, Lia's Likings The Baby Blogger! Lia started blogger at 8 months old and she now has a Friday Story Time blog you won't want to miss! I welcome you to join the conversation, ask a question, give a suggestion or leave a comment on any blog post. I hope you enjoy Lia's Likings, she has some great posts that will make you smile!

What a good idea! Pretty and funky. Makes me want to dance like John Travolta. 😀 Your whole family is pretty handy and ingenious.

    A brilliant idea!

  4. Now all you have to do is conenct the remote to a sound detector, so they automatically turn on when someone approaches the steps.

Wow, what a wonderful idea. I need to do this to my stairs.

  6. Hi Martha and Lia, Great idea to light the stairs. I hope Rich is, okay after the fall. I can empathize as I fall often due to my joints giving out. The lights help to see but also add holiday flare, what a great combination! Sending lots of love, light, and hugs. Jaime

Alexandra sure had a great idea with the lights Jaime. Rich was sore but thankfully nothing broke. Yes they serve as dual purpose and so pretty. Hugs and love back to you from Lia and me.

Great blogs. Those lights are so bright. That would help me for sure.
