Spiritual Sunday Meditation

Good morning to everyone on this Spiritual Sunday. I was down a bit yesterday so today I did some early morning mediation in my quiet corner before I went to church.

Two of my favorite books to keep handy are written by my blogger friend Kebba Buckley Button. Both Inspirations For Peace Within and Sacred Meditation have helped me so much especially these past few months. My quiet corner is peaceful especially when the wind chimes play a soft melody from the breeze while I’m reading and meditating.

A walk around the garden to see the new flowers blooming always picks me up and then it was time to head to church.

I forgot this Sunday was the Monthly Parish Community Breakfast fundraiser with all proceed supporting our sister church, St. Michael’s Parish in Nigeria. They have a variety of homemade meals to choose from for only $10.00 donation. I decided to go even though I still feel awkward going to something like this on my own. As I went through the line then over to a table I sat down and the couple setting there was so pleasant. Come to find out they were sitting right behind me in church and they live maybe a mile from me. I had a delicious scrambled egg with bacon, hash browns and a homemade biscuit meal while they both had pancakes with sausage. We chatted while we ate and it was nice to meet them. I’m taking baby steps but I’m gonna be okay.

Hoping everyone has a blessed day and a good week.

Hi Martha, yes we seem to be on the same path. Glad for your beautiful peaceful Sunday. Your photos are beautiful. I no longer go to church. I went through a lengthy program and was baptized as a Catholic. I served communion for a year. Though I no longer attend church, I have God in my heart.

I’ve always said people don’t have to go to church to believe in God, Julie. He will always be with us and I’m always talking with him even if I don’t make it to church. I know God is in my heart also.

  2. Meditation is such a powerful way to reconnect with ourselves and find balance. Thank you for sharing this beautiful reminder to slow down and embrace the stillness.

It’s great to see how stepping out of your comfort zone led to such a positive experience! Small moments like these, meeting new neighbors over a delicious meal, can make all the difference. You’re definitely on the right path!

When I first pulled in I thought, I can’t do this but then I slowly walked in Tamara. I didn’t recognize the couple because they were behind me but they even mentioned they didn’t see me last week. Sometimes I go to Saturday evening Mass and that was why they didn’t see me last week. Little by little I’ll come out of my shell.

What a sweet place to start the day, and love your roses! Sorry you were feeling low – and grateful for tools helped turn out about.
I like to start my day by reading the reflection from A Cherokee Feast of Days or one of my others …
I needed to get to church early as our choir was singing, and I had one of the three (short!) Solos! My voice had a bit of a ‘morning crackle’ – but folks seemed to enjoy it.
We we invited stay for lunch after the service, put on by our Youth collective leaders Sean and Kate. Youth (6th-12th grades) from 5 congregations meet weekly and for various projects and activities.
My daughter and her 13 year olds helped set up – we love our ecumenical community, and I’m so happy my grands have this great opportunity!

What a beautiful way to start your day also Nadya and singing Solos, that’s great. Sounds like your day was fabulous and you have awesome grands!

What a beautiful way to start the day, Martha! Your peaceful meditation routine sounds so calming, especially with the wind chimes creating a serene atmosphere. It’s lovely how you found joy in both nature and community with your walk through the garden and meeting new friends at the parish breakfast. Taking those “baby steps” is such a relatable and inspiring message. And it warms my heart to see Kebba’s books 🙂

Wishing you continued peace and blessings throughout the week!

Thank you Paul, I couldn’t get through some days without Kebba’s books! Yes I’m taking baby steps and venturing out on my own but I’m finding that there is so much compassion in people I don’t even know.

  6. So brave to show up for an event, alone, even feeling awkward. Your spot for contemplation is so beautiful. I am grateful you have created a space where you may experience peace under sad circumstances. Lots of love, Martha.

I didn’t feel brave at the beginning Julie but as soon as I entered, I felt love and compassion from people I didn’t know other than in passing at church. Yes my quiet corner is a life saver for me.
