Spaghetti Sauce
I love to recycle or reuse things. Now you may wonder what spaghetti sauce has to do with that so here is how I recycle spaghetti sauce.
My hubby makes delicious meatballs and the other day Lia and pop made a big pot of meatballs with spaghetti sauce. Lia loves cracking the eggs, add the seasoning and mixing everything together.
Pop and Lia started rolling the meatballs and while waiting for them to cook, Lia stirred the sauce. When the meatballs were ready, pop added them to the pot of sauce to cook for the day. It smells so good when the meatballs are cooking! We usually have enough meatballs to last us all for three days, the first day we had meatball subs, the next day macaroni and meatballs and subs again the following day. I even made a care package for my granddaughter and her family!
Finally the meatballs were gone but there is one problem. We usually end up with a large amount of left over sauce. I usually freeze it in containers that would be enough for a meal but then I forget it’s in the freezer! So this time I decided to put my recycling in place! Yes I recycled the spaghetti sauce and added chicken to it!
First I cut three boneless chicken breasts in pieces, sprinkled them with flour, seasoning salt and avocado oil. I covered the bowl and shook it until the chicken was lightly covered. Next I browned the chicken on all sides and covered to cook it through. I added the chicken to the left over spaghetti sauce and let it simmer to get the flavor throughout the chicken.
Talk about a great smelling kitchen! I boiled up penne and wheat spaghetti and we each had a delicious meal. Rich had just penne with the chicken but Alex and I got fancy. I put some chicken pieces and sauce in a baking dish, covered it with mozzarella cheese and put in the oven to melt. I served my chicken on the side with the wheat spaghetti with sauce. Alex had penne with sauce and chicken then covered all with mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Not a bad meal for recycling spaghetti sauce.
What’s that, what did Lia have? Let’s just say she didn’t go hungry! She had 4 yes FOUR platefuls of spaghetti with sauce! She loves twirling the spaghetti around her fork and making sure it all gets sucked in her mouth! From the look on her face I think she loved it!
Next time you have anything left over, don’t throw it out! There is always a way to recycle your spaghetti sauce to make another delicious meal.
I”m with you on recycling so very much appreciate your tips for using the spaghetti sauce. Unfortunately, I don’t have such a sweet helper and taster around my house so am very thankful to your both for sharing your expertise.
