Song of the Day 6

Song that makes me want to dance

When the song of the day 6 topic came up, I thought back to when my sweetie and I were very young. Back in the 60’s and early 70’s there was a dance hall we would go to and dance the night away. Today’s topic is a song that makes me want to dance, one that we would dance to way back when.

I remember this song, I remember the place and I remember the words song as we danced to Let It Be, song by the Beatles. The Beatles were an English pop band and this song was released on March 6, 1970 as a single.

There are times I listen to the music and beat more than the words and this is one of those songs that was just a slow dancing song where the beat meant more than the words. But if you haven’t listened to this song, listen to the words.

With so much going on with the coronavirus so many are broken hearted about losing loved ones, the night is cloudy not knowing where we go from here in trouble times. This is just the first verse of Let It Be…….

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

The second verse also seems to be sending us a message……..

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

When you listen to the song, the third verse says even more to us…….

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

Back on the dance floor in the 70’s I didn’t pay too much attention to the words but after memories of Rich and I on the dance floor, I went back to listen to the music and now it seems like the words seem more like a message to us that there is someone sending us a message to Let it Be.

Even my 17 month old great granddaughter Lia, loves to find a song that makes her want dance!

Even if I don’t know words to a song, I always seem to sign along Amanda! My mom was the best singer and doing this challenge brings back memories of her and I in the church choir.
