Song of the Day 4

Day 4 – Song that reminds me of someone I love

The song of the Day 4 was easy for me to think of, it’s to name a song that reminds me of someone I love. I met my sweetie on a blind date on Christmas Day 1965 and it was love at first sight for both of us. We were engaged a few weeks later but we had to wait to get married until I graduated from high school. I graduated in June 1967 and we had our beautiful wedding in July 1967.

The song of the Day 4 brings back wonderful memories of young love, starting a family, losing loved ones but new life was born with grandchildren. The song is Remember When by Alan Jackson.

On July 29, 2020 my Rich and I will be celebrating our 53rd wedding anniversary. We have had our wedding vows renewed every five years starting after our 25th anniversary when we had our marriage blessed and vows renewed. I even wore my oldest daughter’s wedding gown for this beautiful day. For our 50th anniversary we traveled back to Schenectady New York from Little River, South Carolina to renew them again in the same church we were married in 50 years prior.

We remember when we were young and we remember when we laughed and cried. We remember the good and the bad and the happy and the sad when our oldest daughter had brain surgery to remove a tumor and when our granddaughter had surgery to remove a tumor entangled in her spinal column. It was a happy day when both recovered fully. But we mostly remember when we said “I do” through sickness and in health until death do us part.

This is a story I wrote about how we met on our blind date and how true love is forever strong. This song of the day challenge is bringing back memories!

Remember When is one of my favorite songs! I wish my sweetie was still alive and would have gotten to see all of our grandchildren! In June he will be gone for 8 yrs. We did enjoy 25 yrs. I love seeing all your pictures.

Same with me Amanda. Sometimes I just listen to the beat or tone but this seems to have a true meaning. Thanks for visiting Amanda!
