Song of the Day 28
Song by an artist whose voice I love
Today is Song of the Day 28, only a few days left in the month! The topic today is to come up with a song by an artist whose voice I love. If you’ve been following my Songs of the Day you know I love the old DooWop and country songs. For this song, I’m going with an oldie but not DooWop.

It’s not only the voice of Julie Andrews that I love when she sings Edelweiss but the entire Sound of Music movie. This Song of the Day 28 challenge is bringing back memories of my mother and grandmother once again. I remember when my grandmother, my mom and I would watch this movie back in 1965 and watch it over and over whenever it was televised. Julie Andrews voice is beautiful, the words tell a story and I can listen to it over and over.
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever
Edelweiss is a European mountain plant with small white flowers and green leaves. As the song is being sung, I can picture Julie running through the mountains and fields of flowers.
Of course now that I’ve finished writing my Song of the Day 28 I’ll be singing Edelweiss for the next few days and looking to see if I can find The Sound of Music to watch! Do you have a special artist whose voice you love?
Edelweiss didn’t make the top 5 from the Sound of Music for me….
That’s okay Roy, we all can’t have the same tastes! I also like the German version, maybe because I’m German.
Great post.
This song brought back so many memories of watching Sound of Music many years ago Amanda.
