Song of the Day 23
Song that I think everyone should listen to
Today I have a song that I think everyone should listen to for Song of the Day 23. I had to decide between two songs, one was God Bless America and the other was God Bless the USA. Both are beautiful songs but I voted for God Bless the USA also known as Proud to Be an American. This American patriotic song was written and recorded by Country music artist Lee Greenwood in 1984.
After the shooting down of Korean Air Lines Flight 007 in 1983 Mr. Greenwood wrote this song in response to his feelings. The song became very popular during the Gulf War in 1990 and 1991 as a way to boost morale. It became popular again after the September 11 attacks and again in 2003 during the invasion of Iraq.

And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I’d gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Lee Greenwood has a powerful voice and message in this song of the day 23. What sound would you pick that you think everyone should listen to?
One of my favorite songs and I also think everyone should listen to this song as well as Alan Jackson’s song that talks about 911. I hope you have a wonderful and BLESSED weekend.
I love how Lee Greenwood puts his heart and soul into this song Glenda. Alan Jackson does the same about 911. Thanks for visiting!
Both are great songs.
Song of the Day 23 should have been for day 25, Memorial Day. But I love how Lee Greenwood sings this song. Thanks Amanda!
