Song of the Day 22

Are you ready to move forward? For Song of the Day 22, the prompt is to come up with a song that moves you forward. What better song to move me forward than a song about driving!

I’ve mentioned previously in the challenge that I am an Alabama Band fan, have been since they started their career back in the 70’s in The Bowery in Myrtle Beach playing for tips. http://themarthareview.com/alabama-band-history/ Well a song that moves me forward is Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler) recorded by Alabama January 1984.

The song starts out with trucker kissing his family good-bye as he heads out on a run. The highway patrol called mama to let her know of a jackknifed rig in a snowbank and the driver was missing. The next phone call was a happier one when daddy called and said he was on the way home, the man upstairs was listening and got daddy home safely. Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till you get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler roll on

This is a song that you could change the words to fit your life and it shows us how we just have to keep moving forward and roll on! For Song of the Day 22, I would say this is a song that moves you forward.

  1. That song was big when I owned a trucking company. (Yes, I did that, too!) It was played every day in the office when the drivers when loading up, getting ready to go on the road. To remind them we wanted them back safe and sound.

Another one of my favorite songs and one I know all the words to and can sing with my eyes closed but you wouldn’t want to hear me sing. Just ask David and Charlie. This challenge stumped me some and now, I need to go and think about a song I can share. I may have to ask if you have one I can borrow.
