Song of the Day 20
A song that has many meanings to me
For A Song of the Day 20, the topic a song that has many meanings to me was one that made me scratch my head. What does that mean, does it mean the words in the song can have different meanings or the song itself has many meanings?
I’m going with the song Remember When, recorded by Alan Jackson in 2002. This song is actually an autobiography of Alan’s up and downs in their relationship as a tribute to his wife.
Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other’s hearts
Remember when Remember when the sound of little feet
Was the music we danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we’d never give it up
Remember when Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now…
This song has a few different meanings to me. First it means young love but it also means sadness and heartbreak when they hit life curves and their love fell apart. When Alan sings about old ones dying it means the circle of life goes on when new life is born. But the song is also a circle of love when they remembered that the sound of little feet brought back the love they had at the beginning and the vowed to never give it up.
As I finished Song of the Day 20 I realized this month is almost over! Only 11 more days and we will be in June! Then only 30 more days until the Ultimate Blog Challenge for July is here!
I’m going to look up this tune. Never heard it. (In a completely different context- but similar- it reminds me of one my favorite tunes- “That’s my job”.
Well I’ll have to look up your song Roy, I’ve never heard of that one!
You picked a good song. One of my favorites. It does have many meanings for me as well.
