Song of the Day 19
A song that makes me think about life
Today I’m searching for a song about life for Song of the Day 19. When you think of life what do you think of? One could think of bringing a new life into the world or someone that has led a full life and ready to leave the world. Whether living or dying it’s a part of life.
I wrote this blog three years ago showing how the circle of life between a person and a rose is so similar. http://themarthareview.com/circle-of-life/
But back to my song of the day 19 where I needed to think of a song that makes me think about life.

What better song to hear when I think of a song that makes me think about life than Hush Little Baby Don’t You Cry. This is such a sweet melody and I’ve sung it so many time to my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The piano music is so relaxing and little ones drift off to dreamland while the song plays in the background.
I like the melody more so than the words but when I listen to the words it’s all about papa and little baby, who means the world to him. A perfect song for GGPapa and Lia Faith. Hush, little baby, don’t say a word.
Papa’s gonna buy you a mockingbird
And if that mockingbird won’t sing,
Papa’s gonna buy you a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Papa’s gonna buy you a looking glass
And if that looking glass gets broke,
Papa’s gonna buy you a billy goat
And if that billy goat won’t pull,
Papa’s gonna buy you a cart and bull
And if that cart and bull fall down,
You’ll still be the sweetest little baby in town

I never liked that song. Too much for me.
I usually end up humming the tunes and don’t pay attention to the words Roy. I love instrumentals!
One non-lullaby lullaby I enjoy for my kids and heck, for myself is “The Secret of Life” by James Taylor. I love it, it is so true – and yes the secret of life (one of them, anyway) is enjoying the passage of time.
Always a pleasure to visit. Love the photos as always.
Of course I had to look up that song Julie! I’ve never heard of it but sure has great meaning! Thanks for sharing your song, now I’ll be singing that!
I recall this one!! One of the many I would sing to my teens when they were tiny tots..
I’m enjoying the memories I’m reliving with the songs Vidya! I still sing this to Lia.
Cute pictures. 🙂
Thanks Amanda! Lia is a great model for my blog photos!
