Song of the Day 14
A song I would have liked played at my wedding
It’s time for Song of the Day 14 and I’m totally switching gears for the type of music and songs I like. I’m thinking back to the songs my grandmother use to listen to. One of them would be a song I would have like played at my wedding. The words fit perfectly for the love Rich and I have for each other.
The song I’m talking about is Some Enchanted Evening sung by Perry Como in 1949, that’s the year I was born! This is a song from the 1949 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific. It was the single biggest popular hit to come out of any Rodgers and Hammerstein show.

Some enchanted evening
You may see a stranger,
You may see a stranger
Across a crowded room
And somehow you know,
You know even then
That somewhere you’ll see her
Again and again.
Once you have found her,
Never let her go.
Once you have found her,
Never let her go!
These words remind me of when Rich and I first met on our blind date in December 1965. Once we found each other we never let go, 55 years and counting.
I vote for Jay and the American’s version! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWpWem5Z4tw Enjoy!
That a great version Roy and it was recorded the year Rich and I met! Thanks for the link!
That is a beautiful song and is a great fit for a wedding.
Thanks Brenda, I remember my mother and grandmother loving Perry Como.
Great photos and post.
More memories from this song too Amanda!
