Snowball’s House Guest

Snowball is more of a one person dog, he’s friendly but he has to warm up to people before he let’s them get too close. That’s why I like taking him to Lowe’s Hardware so he can get to see people and he quickly warms up to them.

The first time my daughter came down with her two dogs and a cat, Snowball wasn’t too happy to share space with them. But after a few times together everything worked out and now when we go up or they come down, I don’t even have to put a leash on him. They are one big happy family, well except for the cat, she likes to stay in the background.

But when Snowball’s house guest came Thursday he started the same thing, barking and sounding like a tough guy, all 8 pounds of him. The house guest was my granddaughter Alli’s 60 pound dog and Olive was going to visit with Snowball and me while Alli and the four kiddos went to visit daddy in Columbia where he is stationed.

Olive is a pudgy lady, weighing in about 60 pounds and she looks like a lion. I kept Snowball’s leash on just in case I needed to pull him back but his bark was worse than his bite. LOL

When it was time for Alli to pick out the boys from school and head on their trip, Iris had to give Snowball one more hug.

The first venture was in the backyard, still kept the leash on Snowball but he did fine. It seems like once Alli left there was no reason for Snowball to show off with his barking.

The two dogs were doing good so I decided to take them for a walk. Well Olive was so excited and started pulling me! Judy say me walk by her house and she came out and grabbed Snowball’s leash and we had a nice walk around the block. Enough to tire Olive out.

Morning came early, Olive came upstairs ready to play at 4:00 AM! But I didn’t leash Snowball after the first night. Both were friends now.

For the next few days they were best friends. The next day I took them for a walk, Olive was much calmer and I was able to walk them both holding both leashes in one hand and Olive wasn’t pulling me this time.

I loaded Olive and Snowball in the car and met Alli at her house yesterday afternoon. I think both dogs will look forward to another visit! But affectionate Snowball hugged and kissed me when we got back home as if to say, “I’m still number one, right mom?” I think Snowball enjoyed have a house guest for a few days.
