Six Month Healthy Eating Update

It’s been six months since I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and since switching over to a healthy eating plan, I am feeling so much better. This is my blog I wrote when it all started.. http://themarthareview.com/fatty-liver-disease/

Started Healthy Eating in July

The first thing I did last July was remove most all artificial sweets from my diet. Now I LIVED on a huge container of sweet tea daily plus I was always munching on candy and cookies. I thought that would be a problem but I just stopped without any withdrawals. Instead of sweet tea, I added fresh or frozen berries to my water. It was deliciously a different kind of sweet and I was hooked on that instead of sugary drinks.

Same with the brownies, cookies and cakes that I would have for breakfast, I switched to oatmeal or organic protein bars. For snacks I would have nuts, fresh vegetables or fruit.

I went from fast foods to healthy foods like salmon, grass fed beef, lots of vegetables and brown rice. I didn’t call it being on a diet, I called it my healthy eating plan. http://themarthareview.com/fatty-liver-healthy-eating/

October Three Month Update

I wrote a three month update in October and shared some delicious fruit smoothies! As I mentioned I didn’t start my new eating plan to lose weight but by October I was down about 15 pounds. But the main thing, my insides felt so much better. I didn’t have stomach bloat plus my food went past my stomach”flapper value” much easier. http://themarthareview.com/three-month-healthy-eating-plan-update/

January Six Month Update

The end of December I went for my six month checkout and my doctor was please with my progress. It seems that I didn’t realize some of my pains were from gallstones that I didn’t even know I had! But since switching to healthy eating, that too is no longer an issue. Since July I have lost a total of about 22 pounds and I’m down 3″ in my waist. My goal now is to not lose anymore but hold where I am.

Even though I cut out sweets, I have found some delicious organic foods to snack on plus a super delicious recipe for Organic Almond Joy Bars! These are SO good, it’s hard to believe they are healthy! http://themarthareview.com/organic-almond-joy-bars/

My healthy eating has ventured into things I never would have thought about trying! One was Avocado and yes I found a chocolate cookie recipe using them! The cookies have only five ingredients plus I added organic coconut to the top. These are not only delicious but a great healthy dessert. http://themarthareview.com/chocolate-avocado-cookie-recipe/

Continuing on Healthy Eating Plan

My plans now are to continue on my healthy eating plan to keep my liver and gallstones under control. Along with healthy eating is usually exercise but has hard as I’ve tried, I just can’t get into a normal routine. I do get exercise by walking and stretching throughout my daily routine but I think that’s about the extend of my exercise routine.

I’ll be turning 70 years old in March and for the most I feel terrific plus I’m happy I switched to a healthy eating plan last July. Check back soon, I’ll be sharing my recipe for Organic Trail Mix and other yummy healthy foods!!

You look great and healthy. I’ve always believed a healthy eating plan is the best diet. That doesn’t mean I’ve always followed a healthy eating plan. 🙂 I have been on a quest the last couple of months to seriously eat healthily. I’ll be sharing your blog with a friend of mine, I think it will encourage her.

Thanks Nita I feel so much healthier also! There are so many “diet” plans out there but I just fulled my gut (literally LOL) and started eating foods that were healthy, no fad diets. I think it was one of the best things I’ve done for myself and my body especially as I’m not getting any younger. I hope my blog can help your friend, if she has any questions or needs any cheering on, have her get in touch with me. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Wow! It is a fact that eating healthy keeps us fit inside out. I also tried it last year and saw a change within me and also shed some pounds. Wishing you a healthy year ahead!
