Silly Saturday Story

Today I’m sharing a silly Saturday story instead of silly Saturday photos. I like to listen to the oldie songs from the ’50’s and ’60’s. Just this morning I was driving to the drug store listening to the oldie music.

All of a sudden the song Wake up Little Susie, sung by the Everly Brothers started to play and it brought back a silly memory. This song could have been Rich’s and my theme song from after my Junior Prom in 1966.

I’ll always remember Rich pulling in my driveway with his brand new 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 convertible with the top down.

After the prom we went to a restaurant where they had a special “Prom” menu with hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken. When the waiter came to our table, Rich order two steak dinners. The waiter hesitated and quietly showed him the price, asking if he would rather order something else. Rich looked at him and said, “We’ll take the steak, my girl deserves the best.”

I had a wonderful time at my prom and when we pulled in the driveway, we sat and talked a bit. My mom and dad had left to go on a camping weekend but my grandparents lived with us and I saw the light on so I know I had to get inside soon. WELL…. WE BOTH ENDED UP FALLING ASLEEP and Rich woke me up saying it’s 4:00AM! I hurried inside but gramma wasn’t up yet so I figured I could just sneak upstairs for a few hours of sleep. I came out of the bathroom and there was gramma waiting to greet me and asked if it was too early for breakfast. She made pancakes and we sat and talked about what a great time I had and how I was home early but fell asleep in the car. She told me she knew, she was watching me the entire time! My gramma was the best. So many memories, whether photos or stories, I hope you enjoyed my Silly Saturday Story.
