Seashell Saturday
Today is Silly Saturday but I’m switching it to Seashell Saturday just for this week in memory of our beloved Pop. My daughter and son-in-law along with their two dogs and their kitty had to return home to Virginia after being with me since last Monday. It was so great to have them here and I know they have to get back to work but I already miss them.
I don’t know how I would have made it through this week without them and two of my granddaughters.
Then my grandson Zac came down Thursday from Indiana with Alexandra’s friend and her two little girls and another grandson, CJ totally surprised me and came in from Arkansas.
Today we all hiked Veeren Memorial Park. It’s a peaceful place to walk the long walkways over the marsh to the Intercoastal Waterway and through the woods. Lia and her two friends had so much fun, she hasn’t seen them in a few years!
The one special thing about this place are the Shell Trees. The shore of the Waterway is loaded with seashells and this is the perfect spot to stop and hang a shell on the trees in memory of loved ones.
Everyone picked their favorite shell and hung it on the tree in memory of Pop.
Rich and I loved walking through Veeren, we would talk Snowball and just have a fun leisurely walk. I will have to take Snowball again soon.
I love this! Sounds like a beautiful weekend. Your pictures are gorgeous! I’ve never heard of a shell tree but then I don’t live by the water.
It is such a quiet and peaceful area right on the Intercoastal waterway Lisa. Beautiful place to reflect.
Martha, it must have been so wonderful having your clan around you! What a lovely walk through Veeren Memorial Park– looks very peaceful. Now this is the first I have heard of shell trees. What a lovely ritual. May you bring that peacefulness back to your neighborhood with you. Thinking of all of you and praying for you all with love. 💗🙏🏻
Thank you so much Kebba, yes this place is so peaceful. No matter how many others are walking around, it’s quiet. I’m working on a quiet corner in my backyard and I will be adding some shells!
Silly birds! This definitely gave me a smile. I love spinach too!
Glad they brought a smile to you Lisa!
What a cool thing to do!
You’ve shared some cool photos!
Looks like a fun time!
Thanks for sharing!
Laurie
Thanks Laurie, we all love hiking and visiting the shell tree. That was one of Rich’s and my favorite quiet spots.
Martha, I still can’t believe how tall Lia is! I’m so glad you had your family with you this week, and so sorry that they have had to leave. I hope you will still feel their emotional support across the miles.
Thanks Jeanine, my daughter comes down from Virginia every month for a week and Alex and Lia are 1/2 mile up the road. My family is the greatest.
