Savings Using Coupons
I had another great weekend of savings using coupons at CVS. It takes a bit of time to find the coupons to go with the items, but in the long run it’s worth the savings. I few weeks ago I wrote about my shopping with coupons advice where I paid $3.51 for over $86.00 worth of items at CVS Pharmacy. In case you missed it, this is the link to the blog: http://themarthareview.com/shopping-with-coupons-advice/
The CVS ads run from Sunday through Saturday but I had a $3.00 off any item at CVS that expired on Saturday the 20th so I decided to check out last weeks flyer. I only purchased three items but it totaled about $20.00 before coupons. After using my CVS and manufacturers coupons, my out-of-pocket total was 29 cents but I even had a CVS gift card to pay the balance with. Yes you read that right,
29 CENTS for Dawn dish soap, a 150 oz. bottle of Purex laundry detergent and Swiffer mop cleaning solution that was 25% off plus I got a $9.00 Extra Bucks back.
As for the Purex, I originally planned on getting the same size bottle of Persil because they had $7.00 Extra bucks but after comparing prices I did better with the Purex. The Persil was $18.99 and with the $2.00 manufacturer coupon plus $7.00 Extra Buck back it would be $9.99. The Purex was $12.29, I had a $5.00 CVS coupon and with the $3.00 Extra Buck it came to $4.29. So I opted to save over $5.00. That’s why you have to study the sales and be ready to make a switch if the price is better on another brand. For the past two weeks I have purchased a 150 ounce bottle of Purex and get Extra Bucks back each time!
On Sunday, I checked out the new weekly flyer online and they had three other great deals on products I use. So off to CVS we went and I told hubby I’m going in for three products and three only. It was 9:07 AM and I told him to time me! I picked up 2 bottles of Softsoap Body Wash, 2/$7.00, 1 bottle of Palmolive dish soap, 99 cents, and 1 bottle of Irish Spring Body Wash, $3.99. My coupons were: 75 cents off Softsoap, 50 cents off the dish soap, and $1.00 of the Irish Spring. I also had a $7.00 Extra Buck that I received the previous day from my laundry detergent so after all my coupons, the total out-of-pocket was $2.95. BUT I also received another $5.00 Extra Bucks from the body wash! I was in and out of the store within 7 minutes!
My last two CVS shopping trips after ringing them up was about $35.00, the out-of-pocket I paid was $3.24 plus I got $12.00 Extra Bucks back. Not a bad shopping weekend!
