Sauteed Shrimp Dinner
The other day our local grocery store had a meat and seafood sale. I got some good deals on pork and steak but the best deal was a 2 pound bag of fresh/frozen shrimp for $10.99! I made the most delicious sauteed shrimp dinner.
There were 48 shell-on shrimp in the bag, I took 18 shrimp out, thawed them by running cold water of the then shelled and devined them.
Next I added a tablespoon of butter and drizzled the frying pan with avocado oil. When the butter melted I put the shrimp in the pan on medium high heat. After the side browned, I flipped them over to brown the other side. I tossed them around a few minutes until they were lightly browned and cooked through. Did they smell delicious while cooking!
I thought of boiling up some linguini or spaghetti but since I was out of both I opted for elbow macaroni with a side of frozen green peas.
Dinner is served, sauteed shrimp over elbow macaroni with green peas. Of course I added butter to the macaroni and sprinkled parmesan cheese over the shrimp. But wait until you see how much dinner was! It cost less than 25 cent for each shrimp so the 18 shrimp were $4.50. I paid $1.00 each for the bag of peas and the box of elbow macaroni so I probably used a total of about 50 cents for both of those, add in a dollar for the avocado oil, butter and cheese at most.
For $6.00 I made dinner for Rich, Alex and me. That’s $2.00 each for a delicious sauteed shrimp dinner! It only took about 15 minutes to prepare and cook this entire meal and we have enough shrimp left for a few more quick, easy and delicious dinners.
Wow! That looks absolutely Delicious! It is 5:00 am my time as I am reading your blog post, and this is making me so hungry!!! I love shrimp, and I love the simplicity of the meal you prepared, and for only $2.00 per person is absolutely amazing!
I usually boil the shrimp and add to a bowl of ice and eat it that way. If any left over, I cook it as in the blog. This is actually the first time I sauteeed it raw and I love it! So quick, easy and delicious Diana.

Thanks!
When I bought the shrimp I didn’t know how many were in the bag so couldn’t figure cost. Even at regular price of $15.00 would have been a good bargain Paul.
That looks so good. I am sure my husband would love it. 🙂
It’s delicious and so easy to prepare Amanda.
