Roses Are Red, Pink and Speckled Blue… SPECKLED BLUE???

Today is day 9 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge plus it’s a Wednesday so do you know what that means? It’s Wordless Wednesday and the suggested blog topic is to Share a Photograph. A PHOTOGRAPH??? That’s not happening with me, once I start sharing photos, there is no stopping!

Hubby’s Beautiful Roses

My hubby grows the most beautiful roses and what a better day or way to share some of the more special photographs that I have taken recently.

This rose was so delicate with a variations of pinks and creamy whites. The shimmer on the petals made it look like a silk rose.

Wait, a blue polka dot rose? This was my genetic creation. I added a few drops of blue food coloring to the water in the vase as a way to just change the color of the water. Little did I know it would turn the rose speckled!

Swiss cheese? When this rose was a tiny bud, there was a small bug bite on one of the unformed petals. After it opened, this is what appeared! Quite magical I think and so unique.

Even a dried rose is beautiful to me. It reminds me of life, we live and we dye but beauty is within us always.

My hubby brings me a rosebud ever morning or evening. After they dry, I put them in a basket to display. After the basket overflows, I turn them into little potpourri gifts by adding some essential oils to them. A great way to decorate!

Living in the south, we have roses from March to January and sometimes even longer. I love walking through our yard early morning when the dew is still on the roses, a beautiful way to start my day with beauty from God.

  1. It’s amazing what fountain pen ink can do…
    Or, is that…
    Roses and red,
    Even speckled blue,
    Even if not bred,
    They still astound you.

That’s so cool that you have your own rose garden! All of these roses are beautiful and I agree with you that even the dried flowers are gorgeous. They all tell a story too. Thanks for the beautiful pictures!

I love all of the pictures, and can’t pick a favorite. I’m always surprised that I like the dried flowers. My aunt dried every vase of roses that my uncle gave her. She has vases of dried roses in her house and she can tell you when he gave them all to her. I think they give her a special kind of comfort now with him gone. Thanks for sharing your pictures, swiss cheese, budding, dried, all are gorgeous. You are a good photographer.

How sweet of your aunt to save them Nita. To me dried flowers tell a story in their own way. I wrote a blog about changing in life which was a rose from bud to dying. It’s a good way to explain death of a love one. Thanks for stopping by and your aunt has so many memories.

  4. Wow! What beautiful roses. I love the speckled blue one most of all. 🙂

I always love seeing the Roses Rich grows and I just love how kind and caring he is. I wish we had more men like him. Because David isn’t one to give flowers even though I know he loves me. Charlie does pick them for me when he finds flowers he likes. I just hope he does this for his wife one he is grown and married. But why just his wife he should do the same thing with his girlfriends and Aunts and Grandmother and Sisters.
