Reversed Roles
When children are young they depend on their parents to care for them, love them and teach them. My hubby and I have always been there for our children and grandchildren no matter how young or old they are whenever they needed anything. We felt like there was nothing we couldn’t do for them when they were in need. But who would have thought reversed roles would happen so soon.
Our granddaughter has always looked out for us no matter where she lived. She would always call or text to see how pop and I were doing. She was the one that get me started on the computer. When Alex was in kindergarden, Alexandra knew more about computers than I did! That’s when we got our first desktop and when the screen went blue, I had no idea what to do. Five year old Alex tells mama to move over, she pushes a few buttons and the computer was back working! Alex was the one that taught me how to take a cell phone selfie, of course it was in the mall bathroom!
You may have seen my blog a week or so ago where I posted “HAVING A CRAVING FOR OREOS.” After posting that I was craving Oreo’s on FB, the next day Alexandra brought out a PARTY SIZE package of DOUBLE STUFFED OREOS!! Hubby is almost 74 years old, I’m 71 and we can still outrun many. Well maybe not outrun but we can keep up with them. That was until the barrier was put around everyone with the stay at home order due to coronavirus. Our granddaughter gave us strict orders not to go shopping, she would handle it for us. Every week she calls to get our list and then calls in the order, picks it up and even delivers it to us.
The other day she messaged me asking what we needed and I told her the few things we were out of. Alexandra sent back the list: “Lettuce, apples, corn, peas, hamburger, milk, baking powder, powdered sugar, various surprise snacks.” Then she typed, “Anything I’m forgetting?” Me, “Looks good.” Alexandra, “Pepsi? Gingerale? Rootbeer? Water?…… Bread? Eggs? So she proceeds to type, “Like don’t look at it as what you’re out of now, but what you’ll be out of within like a week.” If that wasn’t enough she sent me a few pictures of ice cream and asked which looked the best.” I
Alexandra has always been here for us and I realized we would need some help with things as we got “older” but Alexandra just jumped in, reversed roles and took charge now. She has always been more like our daughter and she looks at us as both her parents and grandparents. Our granddaughter has been more like a daughter to us but now she’s becoming our mother. 🤣❤️ But that doesn’t surprise me because she has always been a kind, caring, loving and compassion person. It’s easy to see where her daughter Lia got her kindness and love from!
My favorite part of your post is your granddaughter’s plan to bring you “various surprise snacks.” How sweet.
Alexandra is so on top of things Kat! Even before the lockdown, she would find the coolest snacks and bring them over.
You are creating a place for stardom in Alexandra and Lia.
The future is looking great. (Y)
They are both stars already in pop and my eyes Doug!
I think it’s beautiful that Alex is taking care of you guys now. You deserve it!
Alex is so wise beyond her years Jeanine. She has always checked up on us and one of the sweetest things she did when pop was in the hospital for hip replacement, she blew up a surgical glove, placed it on his bed so he would have her “hand to hold” until she came back the following day. Lia will be just like Alex when Alex gets “old”.
Lia and I will be your moms now, love you 😂😂❤️❤️
Wouldn’t have it any other way Alexandra. Love you both so much!! I can see Lia being your “mom” in 50 years or so. Love you more!
Alex is so sweet. I love Oreo’s too! Hope you have a great day.
Oreos are my favorite and so is Alex Amanda!
